Bookmarks bar context menu support – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1483.4
-
With today’s snapshot we have added support for context menus inside folders on the bookmarks bar (for Windows and Linux), fixed a ton of regressions and taken a minor bump to Chromium.

You guys are so big, I'm gonna test it now.
-
My add webpanel button has a white background on macOS 10.13.6.
.theme-dark .addwebpanel-wrapper button svg {background-color: unset;}
takes care of it in the meantime.Other than this great fixes for the extension functionality, we are almost back to normal on that front!
-
I seem to have some issues with an extension button, it's duplicated:
Selecting hide button hides both of them, but disabling and re-enabling the extension seems to fix the issue, if anyone else experiences it.
-
@luetage: webpanel button - confirmed (Viv-x64,Win7-x64)
-
Yay - extensions toggle is back!
But - "Show closed tabs" shortcut is still broken (VB-50420)
And - you broke spatial navigation... bummer
EDIT: "fixed because Spatial Navigation is disabled in this build" --- ??? Why? -
Interesting, but not support for macOS it seems, how heartbreaking -
@Pathduck The extension toggle itself was never gone I believe, at least not for me. What changed in the address bar is that the extension toggle is narrow again to better line up with sync and trash container and forward + rewind button are narrow too once more, which looks much better imo.
-
@LonM Which extensions are these? Are you seeing buttons for (normally) buttonless extensions?
-
@pathduck: See my comments on the stable blog post
-
@xyzzy: No, this is the "Zotero connector" extension. It should normally always show a button. After figuring out how to fix it I haven't seen a relapse in the issue (yet)

In the menu inside the folders of the Bookmarks Bar, "Rename" and "New folder" are missing, are correctly present for Folders/Files outside the folders instead.
The following regressions are still present:
VB-48889 - When "Floating Panel" is selected, it is no longer possible to drag tabs into the Bookmarks and Notes Panel (please, this is very annoying); Changed the behavior for the Notes but it works correctly.- The middle mouse button on the trash icon "Closed Tabs" and on the navigation keys does nothing, i don't know the number of the VB;
- In the themes, hexadecimal values do not change, i don't know the number of the VB;
- In Extension Manager crx files (unpacked extensions) cannot be installed in developer mode, i don't know the number of the VB.
-
On linux select by mouse not always enough to copy text, need press Ctrl-C. Found on Google services: gmail, chat.
-
@LonM This happened to me in previous snap, too (when updating the extension)
-
@ruario Yes, but why disable it for everyone when it only affects some users on a single site? I can't even enable it again in the options, it stays off. Working spatial navigation was one of the reasons I went to Vivaldi in the first place
Will this stay disabled for long? I really can't surf without keyboard navigation...
-
@pathduck: We are just working through some options and trying some things internally. It just happened that this build we had lined up for you still has the feature disabled.
It'll be back in the next snapshot. This is why it is listed as a known issue rather than a permanent change.
-
@ruario OK thanks for the clarification. I thought I was scr**** :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I can live with "next snapshot"@Gwen-Dragon Thanks for that. I saw the setting was disabled, so I enabled it, thinking it would bring back Vivaldi Spatial Nav. However, this seems too enable some kind of built-in Chrome navigation thing which doesn't really work well, and is not as visible as the default Vivaldi one...
In the meantime I found this which is pretty damned good (in fact V team should look at the code here):
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/spatial-navigation/gogippjaikoijhcdcioeajgpmlmchkbaThere's also Crossfire but it only works with arrows-keys:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/crossfire-for-google-chro/koagbjdgdmedlijoflccgpiaelepedam -
I can't get extension popups to show while icons are being hidden. And even with all icons visible it sometimes takes a couple of clicks before the popup shows.
-
I can confirm this. Win7 x64 & Vivaldi x64

@ruario and the Vivaldi team
Many thanks for addressing the context menu functionality on the bookmarks bar.
