User profile support – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1468.4

How can one disable this "user profile" feature?
I don't need it and I don't want in my menu bar.
"vivaldi://experiments/" only works until one restarts the browser.
Thanks in advance.

....... but is is not enough to declare it "Not working" for everyone.
For the records: Working.

Disabling fails, it is a known issue.
Indeed. Disabling is not saved even after the restart.

This CSS modification in your own custom.css helps:
It really made it.

@mossman No, this button will stay until mardi gras ends in the US or after Fastnacht or Fasching? II do not know.
I know there is some Mozart conspiracy going on in Oslo, fighting against poor Vivaldi, and we have to wear some shielded hats to get rid of button. -

It would probably make more sense to place the icon on the status bar.
Yes, i would like to see it near the paneel and sync icons. It's ok in the address bar to test it for the next 2-3 snapshots, but should change after that. It's nice to have and could be helpful, but i also don't think it is a feature that needs to be such present for everyone
-
@rabe85 I agree there, additionally sync and profiles should be merged in the ui, but I have the suspicion that's already planned.

Sh-t, just got a hang situation when searching on a page... I've had crashes to desktop before, but not since this snapshot. This time just a hang though.
If it happens again, I'll try to look at the process while it hangs, maybe create a dump.

@Pathduck Did this happen on a large/complex web page and did you do the "Find in Page" while the page was still in the process of loading?

It was on this page:
https://bbemusic.bandcamp.com/music?filter_band=3629501958
So not very complex or large especially large, maybe "medium"?It was not in the process of loading either as I remember.

is there a way to change the UI language only for one profile? if I change it in profile 2 to english and restart the browser profile 1 has also an english UI
-
@Gwen-Dragon I can change languages without any problems?!
we are talking about
, right? -
Is there any way to password protect our profile? I believe there's a Feature Request for this too.
I use Vivaldi both at home & work and I really don't want others to access my Bookmarks, etc at work. If there could be a prompt for logging into Vivaldi, that'd be awesome.
-
@gwen-dragon: Thanks for the tip, but too much hassle
-
@Pathduck Thanks very much. FYI, we already have traces and call stacks, so we know where we're getting stuck in the code. We're still looking into exactly why and how Vivaldi is getting into a bad state. So, what we really need now is a recipe to reproduce the hang/freeze consistently from a clean/default install. That way, we can determine the root cause and be confident that we've implemented a proper fix.
-
@pettern: bit too heavy solution i think
can't quickly copy stuff between main profile and hidden profiles, can't do tools already configured for my current OS user, even accessing desktop would require to find the folder in Explorer (and maybe i won't be able to read/write to it anyway without getting administrative access (which is not a problem, but smells like a workaround))

If I keep a (pinned) tab with Outlook Calendar (outlook.live.com, monthly calendar view), Vivaldi's performance will be greatly affected over time (2-3 hours). In the end Vivaldi will crash!
Without this tab, everything is running fine.

@gwen-dragon: Thanks.

Question: will playing around with multiple profiles in this snapshot mess up sync with stable Vivaldi?
Still no answer from anyone...
I have not tried creating a new sub-profile in the snapshot since I've been waiting for an answer to this question!
-
Different user profiles per tab, could that be a thing in the future?
