Tab bar went missing
-
I've been using the Vivaldi tab bar ever since I installed Vivaldi.
The preview gets stuck on whatever page is first loaded in that tab, but otherwise it worked fine.
Until today, where the tab bar suddenly was no longer visible. There should be a hotkey to toggle the tab bar:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/5834/quick-hide-show-for-tab-bar
However this option is not available in my settings.I have a boatload of settings for tabs, so it would require 2 screenshots to show them all, I can do it if you want.
I've searched the settings for "toggle" and "tab bar".
Nothing useful came up on the first, but on the second the setting "Show Tab Bar" came up, which was checked. There's no configuration as is shown in the linked question.
The other settings are: "Tab Bar Position", which has been configured as top. And "View > Tab Bar".
After configuring a hotkey for this I found it toggles the "Show Tab Bar" checkbox. This does have a graphical effect: a red bar shows up on top of the window.
But this is very small, no tab bar is visible:
The image link isn't working, here's the raw link: https://imgsafe.org/image/0629d75164 -
@woutervos The shortcut is configured under Tools/Settings/Keyboard - View
and not under "Tabs"Your screenshot shows that you have configured "Ctrl-Shift-K" to show/hide the Tab Bar.
-
Ok so this setting is indeed the showing and hiding of the tab bar.
But the tab bar doesn't work any more, I only see a single red line. -
@woutervos I recommend you refresh your profile and see what happens.
-
Refreshing my profile has resolved the problem.
But copying over my "Last Session" and "Last Tabs" files doesn't restore my session.
Now all my tabs are lost.
What else can I do to recover them? -
@woutervos Current session, current tabs, last session, last tabs.
-
Just had this and no way out until going to Tools > Settings > Tabs > Choose Left > Choose Top.
Choose Left showed the tumbnails bar of the tabs, then Choose Top put them back where they were before.

@SekeRob said in Tab bar went missing:
Just had this and no way out until going to Tools > Settings > Tabs > Choose Left > Choose Top.
Choose Left showed the tumbnails [sic] bar of the tabs, then Choose Top put them back where they were before.
This worked for me too, but obviously there's a bug involved because the tab bar periodically and inexplicably disappears.
