Installation Question
-
Hello! I am very interested in joining the Vivaldi experience. I have been closely following the teams' blog in an effort to stay up to date with the browsers recent updates. Due to the big gains in progress, I am very happy to say that I am finally deciding to download the web browser. I am just curious which one to download. Should I download the lastest tech preview or the latest screenshot? What's the difference between the two? If I download the screenshot version, will it take up more space onto my computer? Thanks in advance

The latest snapshot is what I would recommend. It has fixes and features that the Preview does not. They both take up the same amount of disk space. So the version on this page: https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/19-easter-snapshot-1-0-142-32 is what I would recommend.

Alrighty.
One more question: Do you recommend installing every snapshot?

Alrighty.
One more question: Do you recommend installing every snapshot?
That would depend on your tolerance for risk, your desire to have the latest and best features, and your ability to discover and adjust or debug things on your own. Certainly, I install every single one within the first few hours (or minutes) it's out. The more people testing every single snapshot, the better and more reliable the feedback, and the faster the developers can make progress.
The price I have paid for using every one has been somewhere between negligible and zero, so far. Chromium/Blink is a sound and well-developed engine, and this development team knows what they are doing around browsers - so the worst thing about my experience so far has been having to wait for the next snapshot for more features and stability.
There have been a FEW users who have reported pretty drastic problems - significant data loss from the browser, heavy hits on system resources, repeated crashes, paradoxically tiny or huge user interface elements, etc. These have been in the great minority (one per hundred thousand perhaps), but they DO occur - so you have to be willing to have the thing melt down on you.

And one more thing: If you are on 64-bit Windows, the 32-bit version is lighter and runs better right now than the 64-bit version which is still more experimental.

Alright.
I have the 32 bit version of Windows.
Thanks for your help! -
Any time.

Just for the record, I have always installed the 64 bit version of Vivaldi on my Win7x64 PCs and it is still faster and more lag free unlike the Opera 12.17 version that is still my default browser because of the ability to Sync across all my machine's installs.
