Vivaldi 2.3 RC 2 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1440.37

@lonm: me too
-
@jacekn Works for me, see other formats, can play 1080p50
(Win7 64bit) -
@LonM me too too
-
@jans: GIF or animated GIF?
No whatsapp user here but if animated: There is a setting bottom right in the status bar to play animations only once - maybe it helps. -
New regression: VB-48934 PDF Zoom controls don't update status bar zoom level
-
VB-47455 is bug that hinders productivity for whoever uses their browsers for work (e.g., Google Docs). It has been a known issue for quite some time but the Vivaldi team has mostly ignored it so far.
-
@ruario: can you provide me some directions - when to look for solution or more debug info to provide in my bug report?
all videos seems to be limited to 480p https://i.imgur.com/YY2Gmlb.png

@jacekn which extensions have you installed in Vivaldi? I remember having seen that problem some times ago and it was caused by an extension which interfered with Youtube, causing it not being able to determine if the browser was able to decode larger video formats.
-
@ian-coog: Hm. Good idea. I disabled them all - no luck. I run private mode - it's working!
So I've cleared Youtube cookies - no luck.
However - non-private window on another profile on same Vivaldi version works fine. Gonna clear all the data now. I hate doing this, so I hope it will fix that. -
Print is still not working. If this is not fixed before the stable release, it will not be a usable browser, since I constantly have to switch back and forth to load pages to print with Edge or Chrome. Based several other users comments, I'm by far not the only one facing this issue.
See my post about previous SS's here:
The Print (Preview) is still not working on many sites in the latest SS 1440.37 (and before). It was fixed for me back in SS 1386.4. I reported this already several times and a VB# exists from @Gwen-Dragon. This is getting really annoying because every time I have to print (to PDF) one of those sites, I have to open Chrome or Edge. I notice the problem a lot with Amazon and Ebay pages.
Here is just one of the sites that constantly fails:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/391970438731
When I try to print one of those pages, the Print Preview window opens but then it's stuck at the "Loading Preview" animation. I tried the following:
Opened the same website in Private Window with all Extensions disabled (no change)
Using Right-Mouse-Click -> Print or CTRL+P makes no difference
Tried with a clean profile
Print works fine both in Chrome and Edge
-
@rhk: I can confirm this, as I had the same issue last week, thought it was specific to the site I was on. Yes, this needs to be corrected before release.
-
Also hope that VB-48886 "Search Suggestions Selected from Search Field Dropdown Are Not Populated In Search Engine" is corrected before 2.3 is released because it makes using search with keyboard difficult at best.

Uninstall the most suspect ones, one by one, then exit and restart Vivaldi. Repeat until you hopefully find the conflicting one, and report it.

@QuHno
It is animated gif, (sending giphy through whatsapp) but i still strongly believe it should not kill the Browser/eat all CPU -
@Gwen-Dragon another user reported at with VB-45712 see here
-
@Gwen-Dragon easy to reproduce even with a new profile (looks exact like here) vivaldi process uses one cpu core to the max. my main profile hangs up as JanS. described it
-
@derDay
Even with Animated gif only playing once it will eat CPU and RAM like hell -
@Gwen-Dragon ok, thank you
-
@Gwen-Dragon
this is a very easy way to replicate.
Anyone using whatsapp can replicate that on whatsapp web.
