Remote instances of Vivaldi affecting KDE taskbar
-
I hope I can describe this so that it makes sense. I am running KDE with the taskbar at the bottom. This behavior affects every program that I have multiple windows open in (can be another browser, can be something like kwrite, can even be Vivaldi itself).
The normal behavior when there are multiple windows open in a program (or multiple instances of a program) is when the program as clicked on the taskbar, a sort of mini-menu pops up from the program showing each of the windows, and the user selects which one he wants to go to by clicking on it. If I am running Vivaldi exclusively on the local machine, everything works as it should (meaning there is no problem).
However, I frequently run Vivaldi (started from the shell) on other machines (through X11 forwarding), the main reason being different network setups (meaning different proxies). If none of the Vivaldi windows are the "top" window (meaning it would be on top of every other window if they overlapped), then there is still no problem.
But finally, we get to the issue. If any Vivaldi window on a remote machine is the "top" window, then cliicking on any program in the taskbar with multiple windows or instances open (including Vivaldi itself) brings up the menu of windows for that program for just a fraction of a second (and then it fades away, intsead of staying indefinitely, as it should). This makes it impossible to go to a window in another program by clicking on it from the task bar popup until another window is put on top off all of the (remote machine) Vivaldi windows.
I hope that makes some sense.
Adding that Vivaldi is the only application that does this (meaning this doesn't happen with other applications run on a remote machine).

I suggest that you get to that at the very beginning by editing your thread title to a concise description of the problem you need help with.
Edit: The title is now much clearer, and concise.

I have no idea how to describe that "concisely," but your suggestion to include more information in the title is certainly worthwhile, and I will indeed edit that.

I guess you run a external shell with
ssh -X [email protected]
?It is actually "ssh -Y" but essentially, yes.
Can you post a GIF animation or video screenrecording? Sorry, i can not really imagine how to test it.
I can not repdoduce it. I started a local Vivaldi on my Linux Workstation and opened two remote shells by SSH and started Vivaldi in the remote PCs.
I can select all buttons in KDE 5 taskbar, no one is blocked.Well, the good news is that this disappeared when I upgraded from 2.1.1337.51 to 2.2.1388.37. I am not completely happy with the upgrade, but that is a topic for another post.
Edited to add: The "problem" with the upgrade was not what it appeared to be - it seems that some of my preferences, including new tabs being blank, were changed with the update (when I discovered that, I promptly changed them back).
