Add a nice calendar
-
I wish for a calendar in vivaldi, which can be imported, exported and preferably also synced (nextcloud, gmail, whatever else there is).
There are already both a URI dedicated for calendars [1] and keyboard settings to import and export calendars [2] in vivaldi, with just the problem that [1] does not show anything and [2] (at least the import functionality) does not work.
I have searched a bit on the forums and I did not see any mention of a working calendar, so I guess that this is not just a bug for me but just a feature that is not implemented yet, although planned somehow.
I would really like to see this happen.[1] vivaldi://calendar/
[2] vivaldi://settings/keyboard/ -
@jumpsq Your request is already in the works.
-
@jumpsq thanks for reaching out about your request.
Quick follow up on our side: we're currently testing a open source solution that will help you synchronize your calendar. We'll update you as soon as we're ready.vivaldi://calendar/
is also in the process of being built. Thanks for being patient with us.

@gaelle
vivaldi://calendar
made crash the UI rendering (stuck on splash screen) on latest snap.
RemovingCurrent Tabs
andCurrent Session
fromUser Data
restore the UI access. -
Any news on this?
-
@jumpsq To amplify what @Gwen-Dragon said, there is a ton of work and emphasis on this at present.
-
@Gwen-Dragon @Ayespy I know that currently the team is doing final touches on 3.0 / Android and that focus is probably on M3, but has there been any progress on this over the last months? I guess that the clock may be a related feature (alarming system / picking a time and date for events and tasks)?!
-
@jumpsq There has been major progress on a calendar. It is being tested internally.
-
vivaldi://calendar/ has an added favicon just like vivaldi://mail/. Expecting alpha-release soon.
-
@jumpsq I really hope Vivaldi programmers are aware of the crap that comes from google. I use an excellent calendar outside of Vivaldi and that programmer was hugely responsible for DateBook6 and later on the Palm Pilot. His experience with working with google products is largely like working with programmers who have no knowledge with programming at all.
-
@Claptonfan Having seen some of the bugs vivaldi has had to deal with, I think the developers are very "aware of the crap that comes from google".
-
FYI
I finally escaped Google Calendar (not being able to order calendars was the last straw) and after much research I settled on Apple Calendar
I'm in the Apple ecosystem and already using macOS/iOS so integration is good and it's one less monolith to worry about even if I'm still using Apple
Also, recently started using Notion, which has a calendar feature, if you'd like your calendar closer to your TODO tasks/projects
Hope it helps!
Sincerely

And how nice it has gotten already!
It even got a Panel, andNew Calendar Event
is pretty much perfect as well. Great work @Team_Vivaldi ! -
Is this feature DONE yet?
-
@pesala I was told before that as long as a feature is still in beta, it's not
done
.
(I'd do it myself, but I guess we may have to ask for more moderators?!) -
This post is deleted! -
@jumpsq You may be right, but I think it can be tagged as DONE because it is already in the Stable version.
Like Mail, it will not be feature complete for a long time, but the feature as requested (Add a Nice Calendar) has been done IMO. It is not something that I use, so I don't know how it measures up to Calendars in other browsers.
