Better Notes Mod
-
@valiowk It looks as though the
common.css
file isn't loading from the browser. When you installed the mod, where did you put it? I expect the structure of the vivaldi folder after installing the mod to look something like this:vivaldi ├── background-bundle.js ├── background-common-bundle.js ├── browser.html ├── bundle.js ├── style/ │ ├── common.css │ └── common.js ├── user_modfiles/ │ ├── betterNotes.css │ ├── betterNotesEditor.css │ ├── betterNotesEditor.html │ ├── betterNotesEditor.js │ ├── betterNotesEditor.png │ └── betterNotes.js └── vendor-bundle.js
I've omitted a few files and folders for clarity
Does this match how you have mods installed?
-
@LonM Yes, that's how I have the mods installed. I intentionally set the structure of how I have this mod installed to match yours so that I don't need to edit the files after downloading them whenever they are updated.
-
@valiowk Do you have any extensions installed which might interfere with loading of styles? I don't think that should be a problem, but you never know.
-
@LonM I disabled all extensions to check and the problem remains.
-
@valiowk If you right-click on the notes page and open the "Inspect element", when the dev tools open are there any messages at all in the "Network" or "Console" tabs?
-
@LonM I assume you mean right-click in the editor tab? There are no messages in the "Network" or "Console" tabs when opened from the editor tab.
Something strange is going on, though—when I opened the editor tab once more to check, the editor interface suddenly showed up as normal, although I didn't make any changes to settings, but it doesn't stay normal—if I close windows and try again the interface gets messed up again.
-
@valiowk It looks as though sometimes the editor stops loading the CSS styles. I have absolutely no idea why that might be happening though.
Apologies I can't be more help, as I haven't been able to reproduce this issue.
-
@LonM No problem, thanks for helping me narrow down the issue slightly.
-
In the downloaded betterNotes.js file i see
const VIVALDI_ORIGIN = "chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli";
What does that mean? I'm in a linux installation, what the value should be for me? -
@mahrakib that shouldn't need to be changed. It's a URL for the Vivaldi "app", not a file url.
-
There is a script in the forum for linux users that can add a custom.css and a custom.js file. But how do you add all these custom files?
Can you please share your modification adding script? -
@mahrakib most of my mods are here :
https://github.com/LonMcGregor/VivaldiModsAnd that repository has instructions on how to use my mod script (it uses python)
In mine, just follow the instructions in the readme (I hope it is easy to understand). The active mod names should be "betterNotes", "betterNotesEditor"
I may have misunderstood the original post you made, yes depending on where mods are installed you would need to change the final part of those URLs in the files.
Basically I imagine them being stored in a folder next to browser.html called "user_modfiles", you only need to update EDITOR_URI

Encore du très beau boulot ! Les moddeurs sont les développeurs du futur de Vivaldi !

Hi!
Firstly, I must to say that THIS IS THE GREATEST MOD ever maked for Vivaldi
I'd like can to try it someday since I have never been able to put it to work
I tried with the version in the capture (1.16.1195.3) and not work
I tried with versions from 25 Nov 2017 (the original post date) to 2018 's December (many months of snaps and stables releases) . . . But none of them worked
I currently use Vivaldi 2.8.1650.3 and I'd like to know if is possible update this awesome mod :smiling_face_with_open_mouth:
Thanks to everyone modders, specially to the creator of this great MOD
-
@MasterVivaldin I'll make a note of this, and when I get some free time I'll try to look into what might be causing issues.
-
Thanks friend
This mod and "Mask for the Adress Bar" are for me the greatest mods that I have found so far
-
@MasterVivaldin I've just tested in vivaldi 2.8.1650.3 and for me the mod seems to be working correctly. What sort of errors or issues were you having?
-
-
@MasterVivaldin This mod is quite complicated to install and works a bit differently to other mods. Did you follow all the instructions?
The URL should look something like
chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/mods/betterNotesEditor.html
But right now it looks like you're loading the webpage directly.

@lonm: Thanks for this great mod, ..., I was always looking for such an extension, because I loved 'Quick Fox Notes' for Firefox and missed the search function in 'Vivaldi Notes'. Here are the translation in German. Maybe you have use for it:
betterNotes.js:
de_DE: "Öffne 'Better Notes Editor'",
betterNotesEditor.js:
Select: "# Selektiere eine Notiz zum Editieren",
NotesTitle: "Vivaldi Notizen",
Title: "Titel",
Format: "Formatierung",
Export: "Export",
ExportPrompt: "Rechts-Klick, Link speichern unter...",
Loading: "Lade...",
LoadingPrompt: "Wenn Du diese Nachricht für mehr als ein paar Sekunde siehst, klick den '<em>Öffne Better Notes Editor</em>' Button nochmal.",
Stats: "Notiz Statistik",
Chars: "Zeichen",
Words: "Wörter",
Lines: "Zeilen",
SyncScroll: "Scrollverhalten angleichen",
ShowPreview: "Markdown Ansicht"Regards
