A small update from yesterday – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1401.7
-
@Ayespy since the 2.3 Snap branch i encountered this issue, but never before it.
-
@Serket Perhaps file a new bug then. It's been a couple of months that people have been reporting the "failure to maximize (edge-to-edge window but not maximized)" bug here on the forums. I have not checked to see if it has a bug number.
Edit: There is a bug for it reported in October. However, a tester was unable to reproduce it and it was closed. Can you please report again with details?
-
Bug reported and will see if it get fixed. Is a disturbing one but considering there are workarounds for it, is not a really urgent matter (at least to me).
-
@Serket I confirmed your bug on the internal bug-tracker.
-
@serket: Confirmed also here, Win10 x64. Hope it get fixed soon, rather annoying bug this one.
-
@ryofurue: Confirmed, Win10 x64.

Perhaps already mentioned, but this seems to be a recent regression. It's in 2.2+, at least, including this build. I don't think it was in 2.1.
- Open some site, like nytimes.com. Let's say it's in Tab 1.
- Middle-click an article so that it opens in Tab 2.
- Switch to Tab 2 with either of these two methods:
a) Using the '2' key
b) Clicking on Tab 2 - Try to scroll down the page using the arrow keys
You won't be able to.
However, if in Step 3 you instead switched to the tab using Ctrl-2 (the traditional Chrome way), then it will work as expected.
-
Regarding the update to Chromium 71, would it be possible to have
Ctrl+Shift+P
to activate the new DevTools menu while the page is focused? It works that way in Chrome (if you open DevTools and then focus the page again) and I find it very convenient to switch to a certain pane in DevTools without having to reach for the mouse. -
@rseiler Can not reproduce here (specs under signature/profile)
-
@ruario: how about sync? will it save us from bugs like that or I will sync emptyness into all of my computers?
-
It looks like, on Linux Mint Cinnamon 64-bit, a related tab is NOT put into a tab stack if I open a new tab in the background using mouse gesture.
I have confirmed that the feature works properly (the related tab is put into a tab stack) if:
- the tab is opened as a new tab in the foreground (both via mouse gesture and via right-click context menu works fine)
- the tab is opened as a new tab in the background, but through right-click context menu.
In short, only when the new tab is opened in the background using mouse gesture, a related tab is not put into the tab stack.

There are some (extremely few) sites that reject Vivaldi and ask for Google Chrome (although Vivaldi is based on Chromium). It seems that they are looking for some "budge" or some kind of identifier. Among those sites are some banks I'm having transactions with, so I'm forced to use another browser. Can't you incorporate the old Opera's "disguise" to pass as Google Chrome? This would be a good workaround and would save me from using other browsers to do my job.
-
@nutcracker User Agent Spoofing can already be done using the Developers' Tools.

OK, thanks, but are you sure that you didn't click anywhere on the page other than on the tab itself before trying to scroll with the keyboard? Because if you did, then the focus, or whatever is happening here, is regained, and you are able to scroll.
-
@jacekn: Depends on the root cause - if bookmarks would have been lost in a way that Sync has no way to tell they were lost due to corruption, it might sync emptiness. You cannot tell the expected results of unexpected behaviour.
-
@pesala: Thanks, but it's rather difficult for me to do that - instead, I found an extension that uses user-agent white-listing of those "discriminatory" sites and I'm OK now!
-
Fix this maximization! Every time window is minimized, when activated is not maximized. I won't stand it any day longer!
-
@Gregor Too bad. It might be months before this bug is fixed. It's already at least three months old. Just press F11 twice.

It's 2 days long. Introduced in the latest bigger update.
