Home Page Changes Unexpectedly
-
I use a Specific Page local text file as my home page. If I change it in settings to Start Page:
- The greyed out address is vivaldi://startpage (Speed Dial Page)
- If I select Specific Page again, it changes to https://vivaldi.com and my custom page path is lost
- I think the path should only be filled in automatically if the path is blank: https://vivaldi.com is probably the best choice, not vivaldi://startpage

That, and the silly autocompletion should be removed, it's so buggy that should have been removed when it was implemented. If you try to delete with back space the https it gets re-added and soon becomes https://https:/https:/https:/h(etc)
It's ridiculous this actually escaped QA tests and it's in this sad state for months if not even years.
A free text field is more decent than this mess. I can understand hard to nail bugs, but this is just sloppy coding at its worst. -
@iAN-CooG Agreed. I reported the autocomplete bug back in February (01-02-2018) and, as you say, it should be an easy fix. I see no benefit from this feature.
(VB-37088) Difficult to Type Localhost File Path for Home Page
I have reported this specific issue as:
(VB-47249) Specific Home Page Lost on Changing Setting to Start Page

@Pesala VB-37088 has been confirmed. I'll let you know about VB-47249 as soon as we can test.
-
It is about time that Browse Buttons were added in Settings to make it easier to choose paths. We have a button to select a window image or change the start page background image so it cannot be hard to fix this.

@Pesala VB-47249 has been confirmed and we agree that it would be nice to fix.

Thanks, guys, spoke to QA, we'll try to prioritize these bugs. Emphasis on try
