F2 dialog links in a new tab?
-
anyone know how to open links that are clicked on in the F2 dialog in a new tab by default?
-
@dalinar If you open settings, go to quick commands and turn on open pages in a new tab this should work.

For changing the default behaviour, @LonM's answer is the way to do it. But here's some additional information that might be of use.
With
Open pages in a new tab
is on:- Enter or click opens in a new tab.
- Shift+enter or shift+click opens in the current tab.
- Ctrl+enter or ctrl+click opens in a new background tab.
With
Open pages in a new tab
off:- Enter or click opens in the current tab.
- Shift+enter or shift+click opens in a new tab.
- Ctrl+enter or ctrl+click opens in a new background tab.

@Komposten thanks, would you know the mouse click modifier key or just keyboard shortcut for opening a link in the current tab, say you searched google.. if you click a link on a google page it will open by default in a new tab.. if you right click and choose open link it will open in the current tab (i.e. the google results tab)
but how can I do it in a way that is easier than right clicking and choosing "open link") ?
-
@dalinar For me, clicking links on Google opens them in the current tab by default.
You can bind "Open link in new tab" and "Open link in new background tab" to keyboard commands and/or mouse gestures. Binding "Open link" does not seem to be an option at the moment.

@Komposten would you know if it is possible to get by default "search with" tabs opening in the background? e.g. I use the context menu to search with google and have it open the results in a background tab?
-
@dalinar I don't think it's possible. You should create a feature request for it (and a second one for adding keyboard shortcuts to "open link"). Just make sure to search first in case someone else has already made these requests.

@dalinar Vote for the existing feature request.
