Connection lost, again
-
Guys, I don't know why this happens from time to time, but it is extremely annoying.
A few days ago, I opened the forum to find the error message, that connection was lost to the forum. Deleting all site data did not solve the problem. I had to open the forum in a private window to be able to write this post.
The last few times the issue was gone by itself after a few days, but you should do something about this, because it comes back from time to time. This time I was posting a comment from the blog page before the error message appeared. I don't know if there is a connection, but it may help to find the source of the problem.
-
@nekomajin Doesn't happen here, unless the forum (or my internet connection) is actually temporarily down.
-
My Internet connection is lost completely from time to time. I find it slightly annoying if I am busy doing something online, but I always have plenty of other things that I can do offline.
I have a text file for my daily schedule, which I also use as my Home Page. If I am writing a long blog post or forum reply when the forum connection is lost, I copy/paste it to my notepad file and save it for when the connection returns.

Could it be that node bb message in lower right corner - with orange letters? I have seen it occasionally in the past, here and elsewhere, but only very briefly.
-
@slake I see that message quite often, but if I refresh the page it usually goes away, and I can post as usual.
-
@pesala
It has nothing to do with my internet connection. I can browse without any problem, while the issue is still present. I had to open a private window to be able to write this comment. -
@slake
Yes, it is that message. -
Here is the error from the devtools console:

That is not the point I was making. If you get extremely annoyed by a temporary problem you need to fix the extreme annoyance, not the temporary problem, which will fix itself without your intervention.
-
@pesala
No, you need to fix your forum.The issue happens from time to time. It has been gone after a week or so every time, but then it appears again.
This is a nodeBB issue. You can find a lot of similar issues after a Google search. It has to fixed on the server side.

No, I don't. It's not my forum. Every forum has issues from time to time. When this forum has a frequently recurring issue, someone sends a PM to the appropriate person, and it gets fixed in due course. It is nothing for anyone to get extremely annoyed about.
No matter how annoyed you get, that does not fix the forum issue. Please fix what you can do something about.
-
Nothing gets lost when you lose connection to the forum. Posts you are currently writing are saved until you discard or submit them. I don't see the issue really. And the message is very helpful, because you know exactly what's going on. On other sites nothing loads, you can't post and you aren't notified about it – nodeBB did a good job with this setup.
-
@luetage
It's not only about posting comments. I can't search or get notifications. I can't even see the unread posts. And it's not a temporary problem, because I was unable to use the forum in the last week or so. I have to sign in from a private window every time. And this is the third or fourth time from the last half year.If you do a quick search on Google, you can see that it's a server side issue.

@pesala
Stop the zen bs! If you, as a representative of this forum, don't want to help, then stay away from this thread.What annoys me, is that I can't use a service, and I clearly stated, that it's a server side issue, so I can't do anything about it.
-
Strange, never had any connection issues ever. Maybe you are accessing it through a VPN or could be a DNS issue?
-
@gwen-dragon
Thanks! -
@npro
I don't use a VPN, and I've tried it from various access points (home, work).Also deleted all site data, which did not help. But strangely, it works from a private window.
-
@nekomajin I always want to help. You say it's a server-side issue, but if it were we would all be having the same problem. As noted by others, the error occurs occasionally, but it does not seem to persist.
-
@pesala Is the content for the community served through a single server world wide? That's the question we should be asking. Since none of the other users posting here seem to have such a grave problem, it's likely we are talking different servers.
-
@nekomajin Thanks for reporting this issue and sorry for the trouble. We do get from time to time a blue page where Forum site is down. It's usually very brief on our side but you seem to have another experience on your side. Do you get such page as well? The support team received your report, please share some screenshots by replying to the email you received so they can help you further.
