Configurable address toolbar and finer grained control on muting – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1369.6

@ruario said Configurable address toolbar and finer grained control on muting...
Thanks for that Vivaldi Team! I'm still waiting for a tab separator in the tab bar.
Also, when is the android version ready for general availability?mf

Really good additions. Personally, I might not use the search bar on speed dial. BUT, it seems to be a great place to also have QC.

Step in the right direction. I guess/hope it is just the first step.
It messed up my custom css in which i had rearrange the buttons(hidden/moved) In previous versions it was pretty easy to switch position of the buttons by simply specifying flex order in css. Now it will be a little harder and less reliable by using nth-child if there won't be any classes in the divs containing button. At least until vivaldi finally gets the ability to rearrange those toolbar items by drag and drop.Would be more happy if the "user css" could finally be saved in User Data directory... Instead of applying it every time after install/update.
Or if Shift|Alt+Enter would work in every input field on the page just like in the address bar. Those(shift+enter, double click tab bar to open new tab) are the small things that i really miss from the good old presto days. -
@pesala In my opinion the search field in the Address Bar should reset to the default, too (at least there should be an option for this). I mean, what's the point of a default search engine, when the browser does not default to it?
-
@rexfahrer What's the point of being able to change it at all if it immediately reverts to the default? After a restart of Vivaldi is not a problem, but every time you open a new tab? That would be infuriating.
Say, you want to do some shopping on Amazon, but your default search engine on the Start Page or in the Address Bar Search Field is DuckDuckGo.
Change it to Amazon, and when you're done, or want to start searching on E-bay, change it again. Then when you're done searching, forget about it. Next time you restart Vivaldi it will be DuckDuckGo again.

Not for me I use the search differently: Most of time I use DuckDuckGo for searching and when I use a different search engine, I seldomly use it twice in a row. When searching something on e.g. ebay, I use the search field once and ebay's own search field after that.
Then when you're done searching, forget about it.
That's exactly the point: In a new tab I want everything to be in it's default state, so I don't have to look which search engine is active. This is annoying to me, because you can't see which search engine is selected when something is already entered.

So Friday is okay for a push to production after all

Anyone else having a major problem on linux?
- I can't switch tabs using the Window sidebar, with activate on single click enabled. Can switch tabs on tab bar fine.
- Page cannot create new window/tab. Nothing happens.
2a. After trying to create new window/tab, the whole browser locks up but the currently displaying page is fine. Just can't add/close/switch tabs even with the tab bar.
-
@fangsta I'll have to update my linux system and the browser to test this. Are you using Stable or Snapshot (2.1 or 2.2) version?
-
@mib2berlin Ditto Manjaro [thankfully as well as NF, ABC (Oz) iView now also works again].

ability to move buttons.. with custom modifications
I do not use CMs, yet can still rearrange my Extension icons just by dragging & dropping them. I'm sure you already know that so i intuit you were actually referring to something else; what pls?

I'm on Linux Mint 18.3 64 bit. This happens even after a system reboot.

@ayespy: 2.2.1369.6 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit)

I'm noticing a minor issue with the tab cycler. If I move my mouse when the tab cycler is displayed, the tab cycler will remain on the screen and the tab will not switch. Clicking somewhere on the page makes the tab cycler disappear and the page switch. Only seems to happen with using the mouse (hold RMB + mousewheel), using the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Tab) seems fine.
Steps to reproduce:
1 - Have 'Show Tab Cycler' checked in your settings.
2 - Open multiple tabs
3 - Use RMB+Mousewheel to show the tab cycler and cycle to another tab.
4 - Before releasing RMB, move the mouse (make a random pattern - another possible bug seems to be that mouse gestures can fire while you're doing this)
5 - Release RMB.What should happen:
Tab cycler should disappear and tab should switch to selection. What actually happens:
- Tab cycler remains on the screen and the tab does not switch to selected tab.
- Clicking on the page causes the tab to change to the selection and the tab cycler will disappear.
If you keep your mouse perfectly still, tab switching works as expected.
Anyone confirm?
I'm on Linux Mint 19

Mouse gestures stopped working for me. Again.

So... any plans for Drag & Dropping elements? Like in Opera 12.x ?
-
@neltherion It could happen. There has been no open discussion concerning just how modifications will be accomplished - just that they will be possible. And as we can see, these possibilities get built in incrementally. So just what the final form will be is anyone's guess.
-
Finally! Waiting for this to hit stable. :3

If I go to
https://www.telenor.no/minesider
and try to logon, I cannot do anything. The page is locked.
If I go to the same page in Edge, there is a popup about cookies - which you have to accept before you can continue. This popup is not showing up in Vivaldi.
Had the same problem in previous snapshots.Win10x64 Vx64

@helsten2 I see the message to accept cookies.
