Vivaldi 2.1 RC 2 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1337.35

@pesala I dislike picture in picture, not a very good way to make the video pop out. Opera and Yandex figured out a much better way to do it.

Ever since the 2.x versions have been released (both stable and snapshots) it is not possible to highlight text on
http://www.laneros.com
This is very annoying, the text is selected (copy-paste for example) but the selected part doesn't change color, so you never know what you have selected.
This worked absolutely fine on 1.5x Vivaldi, but broke on 2.x Vivaldi.
I've tested both stable and snapshot and both suffer from the same bug. -
@escorpiom Please file a bug report.

Is anyone having issues in gmail with button presses not triggering actions?
When I open a folder and check a message, then click the trashcan, nothing happens. If I double click it, it deletes but then sometimes the next mouse click is ignored. Same issue if I open an message and try to click the "..." More button. In this case, if I double click More, then click 'Filter messages like these", the menu dropdown just disappears without bringing up the Filter dialog.This is on Fedora 28.
Google Chrome Stable/Beta seem to work fine.
edit...
Same issue in chat.google.com

@gtj0
Hi, cant verify on Opensuse Tumbleweed 64 and latest Snapshot 2.1.1337.35 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit)
May an extension block GMail working?
Check with Private Window.Cheers, mib

@gtj0 No issues here with GMail. Tried everything including sending myself an email.
-
@gtj0 I did with previous versions but not with the latest update (don't know why by the way).

Well another issue related to application windows. try with
vivaldi-snapshot --app=https://mail.google.com
.Application window instability is getting really annoying especially after it was just fixed a few months ago.
Anyone got a useful replacement workflow? I have app windows open for chat and 2 gmail accounts so I can keep them open on separate monitors then have a normal window for everything else. The reason for the app windows instead of normal windows is because when I click on a link to our issue tracker for instance from email, I want the new tab opened in the single normal window not the email or chat windows otherwise I wind up with tabs open to the same destination spread over 4 windows.

@yngve Thanks Yngve for the follow-up and clarification and I agree, it's really bad form for the government to associate with a specific corporation when it involves tax issues.

I've reported lots of bugs over the last few months of using Vivaldi, and only a few have actually been fixed. I would like to see more bugs being worked on instead of trying to implement more new features. Here are some bugs I have reported which are between 1 and 3.5 months old, many of which should be trivial to fix, in case you have forgotten about them:
(VB-41771) User agent for sites saved to web panel is wrong - Can't use WhatsApp in the side panel because side panel identifies itself as Android for some strange reason.
(VB-42299) When not using native window, button padding should go to window edge - Can't close window by clicking on upper right corner of the screen because of bug
(VB-42461) Domain name in URL should be bold/highlighted to prevent phishing attacks
(VB-43202) Audio playing icon should be either in addition or on top of the favicon, not in place of it. - How it is now, it is hard to find a tab that's playing audio because the favicon is overwritten.
(VB-43624) Setting a beforeunload function does not prompt the user about unsaved changes - This could cause people to lose their unsaved changes when leaving a page they were working on.
(VB-43741) Inspecting an element disables right clicking on elements in developer tools - This bug makes web development with Vivaldi extremely tedious.
(VB-44107) In device toolbar responsive layout can't be resized - This bug also makes designing a responsive website with Vivaldi much more difficult.
(VB-44109) If device toolbar is active the cursor does not change back to normal when leaving viewport -
@multiwebinc There are thousands of active bugs reported by users. Between five and fifty are fixed EVERY DAY. Today's internal releases contain seventeen fixes between them. Fifty-five bug reports have been filed in the last 12 hours. Not every bug is valid, and not every bug is a Vivaldi issue. Sometimes fixing one bug will clear three, or ten, reports. A ubiquitous motto at Vivaldi headquarters is "Kill all Bugs." So there is massive focus on bug-squashing.
A "few months" is not a long life for a bug, necessarily. I have reported bugs that are still unaddressed after over three and a half years. Other bugs are fixed within hours of being reported.
That said, Vivalidi relies for its very existence on adding features continuously in its stated aim of being the most user-responsive, flexible and configurable browser in existence. What the new features do is attract users, and what new users do is bring the browser closer and closer to paying for itself so that the founder, one guy, does not have to continue to fund it.
Now it would be nice to have bug-free software. There is no such thing in ANY field of endeavor, but user expectation is that no software ever have any bugs. It's impossible, but it's what's expected. Therefore, just as a car ad stating "our new model almost never breaks down while you're driving it" would sell no cars, an article touting Vivaldi that only promoted "surprisingly smooth and trouble-free operation" would attract zero users. What brings the users is the manner in which Vivaldi separates itself from the pack. And that separation is features. It is the lifeblood of the project.
Hence, emphasis on features will never wane, and neither will emphasis on bugfixing.
I hope you understand.

This is not a bug, but a feature request (like this one). Indeed, the Vivaldi Team should implement feature requests as well as fixing bugs. It is hard for users to know what is easy to add/fix so we can only report bugs and request new/improved features.
My oldest bug is (VB-8008), but it is trivial and easy to work around. Another very old bug I work around with a few lines of CSS. See the Modding Forum to get help with such UI tweaks
/*MovePanelToggleOnRight*/ .paneltogglefooter {order: 1;}

@ruario Yeah I'm skipping this build then. PiP has been too useful for me, it's just a shame that it doesn't work with Vimeo embeds.
-
@tigas The PIP actually works.
It's only disabled by default due minor issues (not ready for stable build).
It still can be activated in the flags -
I cannot image how Bold/ Italic could prevent phishing attacks. Everybody sees the URL in the address bar.
-
When I have open panel with V forum chats I'm losing focus from other controls (the text field for message gets it) after ±half a second.
-
@potmeklecbohdan It works fine on DailyMotion.

I would have kept it, adding a warning about the issue about PiP not working perfectly yet, so at least could be tested by those wanting the feature without having to fiddle with flags, but I imagine it's going to be fixed and readded next time.

@pesala Hmm, OK. Maybe V (not web) controls only.
Edit: now (after computer sleep) focus works fine.
