@Ralf-Brinkmann:
[Vivaldi 1.0.98.2 stand alone - W7x64]
After installation again complete session lost and all 30 tabs closed. I have to reopen them again one by one.
Not confirmed here (win 10 x64)

http:// or https:// or whatever is used, should be added to the beginning of the URL when copying the address from the addresbar.
-
Still this ugly look, uninstalling…

I can confirm this but… i also can reopen closed session by opening window with number of tabs from tabs bin.

Well it's a technical preview, and a weekly snapshot at that, you gotta expect things like that to happen.

I do not complaint at all, just reporting problem and providing workaround.

@Sajadi:
yeah, keyword search does not work on Windows 8 - i confirm that this is happening - Well, that's the beauty of technical previews… you never know what will happen
Interesting. Works for me here on Win 8.1 X64. Must be just some systems…

I don't understand your solution. Can you explain please?

In words: at the end (or bottom if you have moved tab bar to a side of the UI) of the tab bar is a "trashcan" icon with your recently closed tabs. Yours closed session, one tab at a time, is in there. You can open each tab of the session from there and for most of them, it will open in the state it was when it was closed.

Cannot confirm (well/though, it was 5 tabs only). Even better, the Vivaldi.net sessions now really are valid across tabs, Yet even better, the sessions are - edit: mostly - staying across Vivaldi sessions.
Additionally, page loading has become a bit more snappy, imo.
Good progress! :clap :clap :clap

My sessions have only been disappearing after system shutoff. When I turn the machine on in the morning, Vivaldi (thru today at least) has forgotten its size and position on screen, and its tabs.
I won't know of that's fixed until I shut the system down again.

Sessions and Tabs are saved in "Current Session" "Current Tabs" and "Last Session" "Last Tabs".
Cannot hurt to make a backup of these files if you have many tabs open… -
- webpage seem to load much faster now. In the past, I noticed the loading bar seem to hang a while before the webpage load at all. Now it seem like the first few bits of webpage seem to appear much quicker while the rest loading later
I confirm this. Pages load much faster. W7 64bit.

Nice solution. Saved me some work. Thanks.

Update: Nope, the Vivaldi.net session does not survive every restart. Though, I still have to find any clear rule (have no idea yet, it seems to be rather tricky).
Edit: Currently, I think the Vivaldi.net sessions do survive only after every 2nd Vivaldi restart. Strange. :S

Agreed. The chrome needs work. But Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm confident looks will improve a lot in time.

Vivaldi loses sessions for me also. I haven't been able to determine a pattern yet.
