[feature request] "open new private tab" button is a must have
-
Hi, nowaday, private TABs are a very common feature. I don't think I'll use Vivaldi without this feature, on a regular base. I suggest you added a button next to the "open new tab" button, called "open new private tab" (or window, if this is required for security reasons), and this should be visible as a default: don't add it into the supermegageekfeaturestoaddwithanINIfilesavedinutf-8, please. Who supports this? newspcq

+1 I like that idea.

+1 for the idea
Or it could work as it was in the opera 12 by right clicking on the new tab button you can choose weather you want to open a regular or a private tab. anyhow I would love if vivaldi could have private tabs instead of private window or why couldnt it have both functions? maybe it would make it more popular among users -
Private windows need to come first, but private tabs are on the todo list as well
-
There is already a "open link in private window" option in the right-click-menu. But it doesn't work at the moment. So I think this will be coming soonβ¦
Private window is good but private tabs would be better -
That command really seems to be a misprint.
Anyway, I stress on one thing: I wish that the "open new private TAB" (or window) was a BUTTON PUT INTO THE UI, not an item in a menu.

that would be ok, as long as it is implemented as a BUTTON visible by default and not as a menu item.
-
I'd prefer to have a BUTTON, instead of a menu item: the button should be visible as a default, maybe right next to the + button that is already there, so I could click it with a click only and not with two clicks.
-
Buttons always save clicks for users, compared with click-to-open menus. Whether they save browser code or complexity may be another matter, but I'm just sayin'β¦
-
yes, that's it

A mixed window with regular and private tabs would still be a nice thing to have. Please let us open private tabs in a regular window!
-
@newscpq There is already a request for Private Tabs.
I think it is a bad idea to add another New Tab button. Users will regularly hit the wrong one by mistake, and it just clutters the UI.
There must be better ways to open a private tab. Ctrl+Tab on the New Tab button is not used, but that and Middle-click should open a new background tab.
Shortcut keys and mouse gestures would work well enough.
