Open tab next to active
-
When you click a link via mouse wheel or with target _blank should open next to the current active tab (origin of the click)
-
Absolutely
This and the missing paste and go are the two main missing UI features.
I believe that unlike things like the Email client, should be easy to implement, so I hope they will come back soon.

I have this option also enabled in opera 12 and like it very much!
the ctrl shift v –> paste & go is also nice! -
I go back and forth between which I prefer, so having the option to choose in your settings would be great!
-
Frankly I believe that opening tab next to the active one should be the default behavior of any browser.
The other way should be an option to please the people used with the second tier browsers

+1 I agree with this.

It's not even that. When I work (I'm a developer) I keep certain tabs open that I access regularly in my workflow, and it's nice having new ones open at the end of my workflow instead of in the middle.

Noooo…. or only if its optional...

@Al-Khwarizmi:
When you have dozens of tabs open, the tab next to the active tab is much harder to locate than the last tab.
I never have more than 10/15 tabs opened, I consider keeping more tab opened a misuse of the browsers functions.
BTW I respect other's usage patterns, and I believe the tab sorting/spotting can be improved in many ways.
For an example trough the colorization: the child tabs can be colorized accordingly to the parent ones..
So keeping the "next to active option" would ends in a red group, a blue group and so on. And each color group will be a group of related tabs easy to identify even on a crowded tab bar.

@RRR13:
I consider keeping more tabs open proof that you really need a better browser than IE6 or Chrome.
Yes one that have the native "open tab next to active" w/o the need to fix it with an extension

I believe the other way around.
Cleary the only correct answer is that it should be a configurable option. I'll even raise this with an option that you could choose if it created a group of the original tab and the one you open
Also, "when closing a tab" option is one i'm missing. This also probably has personal preferences on many directions, but I like the "activate the next tab" as an configurable option as well.
What was great about the original Opera and kept me with it for ten years was that you didn't need to settle but the guys who created it clearly understood that people have different preferences and they want to configure their browser and not just to live with some annoying features you could change.

+1 to the "paste and go" feature. I also do care much for the way it opens in new tabs and immediately jumps to that opening tab from the current. I know the middle mouse button/wheel click prevents that but on some sites like Facebook it does not load the pages correctly or at all.
+1 here too, one heavily used feature both with mouse right click and with the shortcut key.

I think this should be optional or maybe implemented as a separate command (e.g. one command that opens the tab next to the current one and another one that opens the tab at the end).
