Quick Commands needs to be under Address Bar
-
Took me a while, had to read all the lines to figure out that the items in QC were actually meant to be for the Address bar, why the separate page in Settings?
-
@rojaviv I don't understand. What I see is a list of open tabs, and below that, a list of commands. What do you see?
-
Sorry I wasn't more specific, I meant under settings, (and didn't even know there was an F2 option...so cool :))
-
@rojaviv Those options are NOT for the address bar, they are specific to the Quick Command feature (F2).
-
@tbgbe Gotcha...thanks !

Indeed.
Btw: Quick Commands is one of top five features. -

Btw: Quick Commands is one of top five features.But what is weird is why on earth is it called QC ?? Shouldn't it be QT ?
-
@rojaviv What does "QT" stand for?
-
@lamarca Darn my abbrvs lol...Quick Tabs ?
-
@rojaviv Not only quick tabs. I also used F2 to load pages.
- Bookmark a link with a nickname
- Alt + P >> Quick Commands:
1.check Open Pages in New Tab
2.check open nickname on matchDone.
-
@lamarca So QP then
Whups - nm, I just noticed QC also lists various other commands under open tabs, guess I just have to educate myself a bit more

A good start is to hit F1 to access the knowledge base

My pleasure
Quick Commands open Bookmarks on the fly.
- Bookmark this: https://slashdot.org/
- Add any nickname: "sd"
- Alt + P >> Quick Commands.
- Mark/Check "Open Pages in New Tab
- Mark/Check "Open Nickname on Match
Hit F2, type the nickname, web site is loaded instantaneously.
Edited
-
@lamarca Appreciate the effort, thanks,
The way I use keywords or Nick is by directly typing the nick in address bar and hitting enter or going to the match in the results that appear
So the only advantage of not having to hit enter is nullified by having to hit F2, right (same # of keystrokes both ways)
Or am I missing something ?
-
@rojaviv Anytime.
That's an alternative of yours, good one, Btw.
As F2 is used for some others actions, I added the Bookmarks option.Cheers

Not exactly. Using the quick commands menu
[F2]
is a bit quicker, because you can skip the opening a new tab / focusing the address bar part. I believe that in the end, it depends on how fast you are with your keyboard... -
@pafflick True, whatever, and I do believe V's philosophy in user-knows-best and give varied options and let-her-choose-attitude (to customize our gateway to the net) vs Chrome's & FF's opinionated do-all-evil till doth suffer, rocks!
