Installing Vivaldi in KDE Manjaro
-
In terminal:
yaourt -S vivaldi vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs ```Package Manager will do everything else for your :). But maybe you want to discover AUR for yourself. https://aur.archlinux.org
-
If you prefer there is also a classic repo
-
@the_solutor -having problems locating /etc/pacman.conf in latest Manjaro KDE 17.1.1
root/etc/ only shows pacman.dAlso, how to add https://repo.herecura.eu/ to repo?
Me non-geek (as you can tell).
-
After adding the herecura link of my previous post via Dolphin in repo.,
i did
sudo yaourt -S vivaldi-snapshot
or
yaourt -S vivaldi-snapshotand it did it for me on Manjaro KDE 17.1.1.!
Snapshot that is.

Here you are:
- To add the herecura repo, which then gives you V-SS + ffmpeg: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/23774/snapshot-1-14-1072-3-netflix-m7355-1204-error-after-updating/19

@steffie - thank you!
Btw, someone has started a wiki for installing Vivaldi on Manjaro:
https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Vivaldi_-_a_browser_from_the_Opera_people#Call_your_default_browser_from_the_terminal
I was thinking of starting with a bit of input but if you take the lead, it would be even better!For the record, just did a fresh install of Manjaro KDE 17.1.1 (long story) and could not figure out why Vivaldi wasn't installing after adding Herecura repo. etc.
Had forgotten to install Yaourt!
pacman -Syu base-devel yaourt (as per info. here: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Pacman_Tips)
Patience! -
just did a fresh install of Manjaro KDE 17.1.1
Tis the 2nd time you wrote that... i really hope that you actually mean 17.1.11, otherwise you have a very old ISO [however via the rolling-release system you'll still eventually catch up].

@steffie - errare humanum est... .11

Still debating about whether or not to register to get that wiki for Vivaldi going.
After looking at this post with the writers personal views included, i wonder if it's all worth the effort?

I don't understand what you mean. What are you trying to do?
-
Well, basically, to pick up from the lead of this thread "Installing Vivaldi in KDE Manjaro" along with all the extra input you have graciously submitted here and put it on that newly Manjaro Wiki page dedicated to Vivaldi.
-
@danielson Oh, ok. Well, fair enough. I don't know anything about how to go about that, who you'd contact etc. All i know though is that there are various/many[?] Vusers in ManjaroForumLand, & there are various ManjaroUsers here in VLand. Hence i expect that there'd certainly be an audience for your writings. Good luck, whatever you decide.
