Feature Requests for old Vivaldi.net (Not for the browser)
-
Proper support for touch devices would be nice. Scrolling seems fine but pinch to zoom and swipe gestures would be much appreciated.
Thanks! -
Not sure if these were mentioned or not.
Could we get a script blocking feature built-in? This would be similar to the noscript plugin on Firefox that lets you select which scripts (flash or javascript) from which source (google analytics, trackers, etc.) are allowed. I want to be able to whitelist scripts that I know are safe.

Awesome looking browser guys! I'm looking forward to future updates and a first finished product. This promises to be great!
A few requests:
- ctrl-enter in the address bar should add .com at the end of the url
- opening the browser should open the home page and not the url that was open when i closed the browser
- browser title should contain the title of the current tab's webpage. this will allow integration with keepass autotype and make the windows taskbar tooltip more recognizable,

I'll cut to the chase. Like many, I use my web browser for professional work. I have also tried out every other browser out there. They all have their own ways of doing things, but in the end, the Firefox add-ons that are indispensable to me are Adblock plus, Noscript, and Tree style tabs. I already expect support for ICC v4 (crucial for graphics), userscripts and download management to work at least as well as Opera (before it became useless).
Although most people concerned about security won't choose to part with Noscript, it is probably too difficult to implement (blame Chrome). Tree style tabs, however, is the most feasible, and the most important. It is self-explanatory and more intuitive than any other bazillion tab organizing schemes out there, as the collapsible tree clearly explain a tab's relations / descendants and facilitates easy reorganization. This is a popular feature requested by many from Hacker News, Reddit, etc. Once you use it you will never go back (see the screenshot). There is a clunky version for Chrome (called Sidewise), but it is very buggy and tacked-on.
Opera was a pioneer in tab design. Now Vivaldi has the chance to capture the market with native tab trees. Ignore this request at your peril.

Another feature I'd like to see is regarding better organization for the Speed Dial. Sometimes I want to add or remove an item from Speed Dial, and as a result the position of all subsequent sites get messed up. I wish I could do the following actions:
- Leave blank slots. If I want to put a site on the right most corner, I need to fill all the spaces between the first item in the row and the desired position. If I could leave blank slots between then, I could organize everything as I see fit.
- Exchange the position of two slots. When I want to move an item, all the slots between the original position and the desired one get messed up. To avoid confusion and waste of time, I'd like to be able to exchange positions between two slots without altering the entire dial. A simple command for that (like SHIFT+LEFT CLICK, or even the scroll button on the mouse) could solve the problem.
- I'd also like to be able to choose the image for each site. The standard could be a simple screenshot, as it is, but allow the user to select the site's logo or upload a custom image from the PC. There are sites that are hard to figure out by the screenshot alone, specially when they upload the visuals and you weren't aware of, and some sites you just don't want to let people know you have on your dial… ('¬_¬) not that I would know, though...

"Seeing as the address bar already handles search, why do you still have a separate search box?"
I like the Search bar. In fact, on Opera 12, I rarely use the URL bar for search purposes. Rather than removing it, it would be better to allow the user to choose if the bar will be there or not. And I would also like to be able to adjust its size - I don't need that much space on the URL bar, but I want more on the Search bar.

In two words you are asking for te way SD worked on Opera 10, and I 100% agree, was much better.

HI all,
this is my first post here & first impressions of Vivaldi
Browser looks very clean & nice & I'm very happy to see new browser from Opera founders which I'm sure gonna take it's place near other famous browsers. Right now I'm Maxthon browser user, which got lots of useful feautres, but I want also to make Vivaldi better by suggesting some of my ideas
Firstly & most important in my opinion is to put synchronization feature for Vivaldi. It's very handy & good feature when after fresh Windows install you get back all your bookmarks, passwords & etc…
Second very useful feature is private window or tab.
Also it will be good if you will add availability to ask where to save downloading files.I'm wishing you luck & I hope this browser gets popular soon

Search - CTRL + F
I would like that the search function once found the word I entered would let me press the ENTER key to navigate through the results. Currently other browsers support this feature but Vivaldi no.
Thank you!

I love the smell of the features in the morning, it smells like, Victory!
I would also love to see implemented a
Download Manager:
Something that let me pause and resume downloads, shows me the download speed, and optionally let me resume aborted files from some time ago(not years or months, but something like I was downloading something 2 days ago, the browser died and now I would like to continue that download from the point it died)

Drag&drop from the address bar into a .url file. I'm glad that even this 1st version has this feature!
I have a tendency to store links next to downloaded files for later reference. I even use it in case of articles and such, it's a very versatile technik, and such feature makes it easier for me. Think about the case of storing a just downloaded binary for later use with its original download location or other references stored as .url files next to it. Than I can move the whole branch into a better location in my directory hierarchy and use it with ease even years later. Such case might be a minority, but bookmarks / sessions / history can't achive the same results.
The problem is, that in this very early version, only the host name is used as file name instead of the whole page title (with filename sanitation), like in old Opera and other browsers (except the new Opera where no such feature exists at all :/). It's not enough descriptive, and it can easily collide (more links from same host).
It would be even better to have something like a Ctrl+S shortcut to save a "page" as .url file.
Also hoping for mht and maff archive formats for the same purpose, but maybe this goes to the extensions regime…
And one more thing that fits here as well: with drag&drop I need the reverse thing too, when multiple .url files dropped into the window, and I expect to get all of them in new tabs (old Opera behavior). It's not yet working this way.

I would like to have Control Enter to automatically append www. and .com to a webpage i would like to visit.

Hi
About Blog. (write-new-blog-entry)
My suggestion:
I hope: "Paragraph spacing"
I will be happy.
-
Delete new cookies, when exiting Vivaldi (delete browsing, search and download history on exit).

Hi, would very much like if this browser would be able to sync with google accounts, i think this can be done pretty fast since this browser is like a chrome clone (only better)

BLOG
Feature request:Post a picture:
Add size: small, medium, large, original size.Example:
The size options let you scale the pictures to different sizes within the posting area. Note that the picture will still be uploaded in its full size; this option just determines how it's scaled within the content of your post. You also have the option to add a caption to your image. (It's a great idea)

When I look at post's header the first thing I see is not user's name but its rank. Because it's big and black.
IMHO would be better to make it less visually significant, so that user's name could be caught one's eyes before rank.
In my example I added the following CSS:
.kpost-userrank { font-size: 80% !important; line-height: 11px; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); }

You can navigate through the results with F3 like old Opera. Although I think it should be documented somewhere.
So here is the thing that could make new users uncomfortable: most of the QoL features inherited form the old Opera 12 that make Vivaldi stand out likemouse gestures like RightClick->LeftClick to go back (also shouldn't bring popup menu) are not shown or described anywhere. and I just stumbled upon them by mechanical memory.
Mouseover tooltips for settings menu would also be nice.

Middle scroll wheel to select different grouped tabs
