Thanks Maria. Just updated. All looks good.
-
Could someone post the version number for me? Thanks
-
@sjudenim 1.15.1147.42 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
-
@sjudenim you can see it from the name of the downloads in
https://vivaldi.com/download/ -
@sjudenim: what installer?
-
@pesala
Thank you@iAN-CooG
I only see the branch number there--
As for this release, I was hoping that VB-38880 was similar to VB-40151 but sadly the behaviour for me is much worse, just as it is in the 1.16 snapshot. Hover events that trigger my overlay panels now only respond when selected in spite of them using a:hover
event. This was not an issue in any of the previous branches and actually had been addressed in one of the 1.15 snapshots only to become worse in the last 2 releases of that cycle. -
@sjudenim just for completeness, so you may know next time: look at the name of the downloads, you can see them hovering on the download links or by looking at the page source:

To me it's really clear what the version number is. I don't know why you don't see them. -
[Windows 10] Alt ,....do not work on web pages VB-39669
Just the opposite: the ALT works really well! It often opens the menu when I tried to change the keyboard layout. This interrupts the process to writing and thinking, because I have to close the opened menu. And if this happens several times (like it does), I lost the creativity of the moment. This ALT in ALT+SHIFT shortcut makes Vivaldi unusable for me.
If you don't believe me, just check the forum, there are several topics through the years...
It is my turn to give up after 2 years of waiting to make this little change but huge step in terms of usability. VIvaldi is the ONLY browser with this "future" - appearing of menu when ALT participate in shortcut! The only one!

Just to follow up my issue
Hopefully this screenshot can clarify. There are supposed to be 2 animations to take place, they are triggered by a
:hover
event. However, Vivaldi is not releasing focus on the tab bar so it remains rather than enacting the second transition I have set for it when not being hovered. This also affects hover effects for toolbar buttons. They all perform normally when switching between UI elements but not web pages -
VB-38880 - Not fixed at all. In fact, this is the first stable version where I have this problem. Up 'till now the onmouseleave effect was working normally. now it only triggers on clicking something in the web page. Please re-visit this bug, thanks
EDIT: Not sure if already reported or not, but the onmouseleave effect only stops working when moving the mouse from a Vivaldi UI element to the webpage. From a Vivaldi UI (ex: panels-container) to another Vivaldi element (ex: address-bar) works just fine
-
Looks like your luck has run out now. Welcome to my frustration
-
@sjudenim Yeah ... I started to see it, now. Still, so far the only 'bad' event is on my custom overlay panels, so it could be worse. (I normally either use the original panels or the overlay onclick panels, so I dont see it often)
-
-
@ruario ok, it was like that at that time, I just reported the links on the page verbatim
-
@sjudenim it is necessary to put version number in update post.
-
@gbb It would be useful, but you can see the version number before or after downloading it. Look in the status bar:
or in the download dialogue.

@minegroasprilla Each new version of Chromium breaks several things in Vivaldi, which then have to be debugged and fixed. It will always run some weeks behind. Important security fixes are applied as soon as possible.
You should search and read some previous topics before making such ill-informed comments.
Update: I see that Ayespy has already explained this to you just 7 hours ago.
-
@pesala He made an ill-informed comment by saying that it's an outdated version of Chromium?!
Speaking of which, it's probably more accurate to say "months" and not "weeks." True, weeks could also apply, but then we could also say "days," too. Why not hours? Months is easier.
-
@rseiler What was ill-informed was "Vivaldi should permanently update the engine as Opera does." The user in making such a claim betrays a lack of knowledge concerning what is involved to intake a new Chromium version at Opera or Vivaldi, how the process is different, the browsers are different, and the development teams are different. What Opera does and what Vivaldi does cannot be realistically compared.
