Vivaldi 1.15 RC 1 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.15.1147.29
-
Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere (I can't see it), but I can no longer simply Reload the thumbnail (i.e. load the new one). W10 H&S.
-
@lakeinholland: Curious. It's rematerialized... As you were.
-
@pesala: I second the previous - neither do I find anything that hinders my browsing habits. But for clarification: What is 'tab spacing'. Could not find any explanaton on the web for that expression. I never experienced any crash in vivaldi and I have set Vivaldi as my preferred app for browsers in windows and any link in a mail or other app opens it in vivaldi without crashing. Same thing goes for the linux and arm (single board) vivaldi, no problems.
-
@linfan Settings, Tabs, Tab Display, Remove Tab Spacing in Maximized Windows.
This enables quick selection of tabs as the tab effectively has infinite height If there is a gap above the tab, you must be move the cursor more precisely to click the tab.
-
@quhno: It is about the bug click on scrollbars

I'm usually not one to chime in on such things, but it's truly mind-boggling to see the reactions on here people think are somehow OK or justified. You're using software you didn't pay a penny for and you think you can dictate to the developers whether they can call a version a release candidate or not? Who do you think you are?
If you can't live with a few bugs then why would you use a snapshot version? Complaining that you'll downgrade to the last stable version and not use 1.15 because the snapshot is too unstable, I mean come on.
Yes I'm annoyed at the browser closing when opening external links too, but I don't think the people actually working on it are like "oh we'll leave it like that a little longer", but probably as annoyed that they haven't fixed it yet.
So much for the rant. I for one am really glad that this project exists and I'm excited every time there is another version out, even if there's nothing new or fixed for me, because it means that there's progress. Thank you guys at Vivaldi, seriously!
-
@pesala: hmm... enabled it and went fullscreen and I did not notice anything peculiar, but maybe my settings aren't so sophisticated. My main concern lies on other grounds, like boycotting google and deleting its search option, not auto-opening download panel when downloading, having horisontal menu texts, changing search and safe browsing options- setting browser always to start with startpage as homepage...

VB-39121 seems to be fixed in this Snapshot, I can not reproduce it anymore.
Could be, that it is depended to VB-38848. Please close VB-39121.mf
Environment: Windows 10 (x64), Vivaldi x32, 1.15.1147.29

@carlonike Oh, OK, yes, that is still broken. I really hope they manage to get the fix in fast.

The tab selector with the right click+scroll wheel gesture just seems to be getting worse. The bugs that were introduced some versions ago are still there (the gesture scrolls the page when it shouldn't, unusable on pages that capture right click, like google maps), but now there's also new things.
The highlighted tab thumbnail that will be switched to is now on the right side, instead of centered. Which is confusing because the tab title is still centered in the menu. Although sometimes the highlight position will move instead of the thumbnails and I don't understand why. And usually multiple scrolls won't work at all now. Right click scroll will only go to one other tab and more scrolling after that effects the page you're on instead of the selector.
This all just feels frustrating, after being used to Opera 12's nearly perfect looking tab selector system.

@christoph142: Many people understand that development is complicated. And yes, the'd like to have better understanding, or they get frustrated (so I understand @hekel, for me it clearly looks like he did not mean tto insult anyone).
Based on your comment the issue is discovered after the RC1 was published.
Are there any reasons not to update the blog post and add it as known issue? This would be faster than the long discussion with @hekel. -
@aerogems: Sure I have the option unchecked, thats why I have to choose first, where I want to save the file.
-
@aerogems: Sorry, I was wrong, it was checked, but I dont get, what happens, I am always asked about the location, which is what I want.
-
@burbuja So then what is the problem? I read your initial post as you weren't being asked where to save files.
-
@aerogems Well, I am asked, but before I choose the folder for the download, the download process has started.
-
@burbuja That sounds normal. The download process starts, but it does not get assigned to a destination until you say so.
-
@burbuja This is a useful feature, and the same as Opera 12.18. On a fast connection, most downloads are completed by the time you have chosen a folder,
-
Vivaldi still crashes randomly when opening developer tools (via inspect element or F12) on linux

Vivaldi Snapshot 1.15.1147.32 (RC2) is now available.

@fifonik Would have been an option, yes. But the snapshot was posted on a Friday before people were leaving for their well-deserved weekend. The only ones typically present on Saturday and Sunday are the moderators who are doing this in their spare time. And we usually don't want to alter the team's posts without prior reaffirmation. If we had promised this would get fixed and the team internally had settled for "we can't get all of them fixed at the same time, let's live with it", the whole team would have been called liars... Sometimes there is no right way...
