Language settings - contradictory?
-
I was amused to see that settings my language and spell-check ( via the vivaldi://settings/languages ) to English (Australian) appears to be, at this stage, working;
but under the regular settings page ( vivaldi://settings/ ), the language is reset to the installation default of 'Bahasa Indonesia - Indonesian' which was functionally 'US English'.It all works, but contradictory settings do look a little confusing.

Actually, 'Bahasa Indonesia - Indonesian' is non-US English.
For US English the display is just English.
I created VB-34706 about this when setting UK English as my language.@Ayespy Hope that VB is still in progress?

@tbgbe It's still open and verified as a valid bug. There is no progress report on it at present.

For US English the display is just English.That sound logical. I guess the "bug" (maybe more than one) has multiple effects.
Even with the Indonesian setting, everything for me appeared to be in English, and the spelling is US English, it was just labelled as Indonesian in the settings. And that's the setting after a new install.That, for me, was the amusing part. If the Vivaldi UI was in Indonesian, then it would be less amusing and more inconvenient, at least until it was corrected.

Since the option is titled "Change User Interface Language" I've always assumed that the default choice (Bahasa Indonesia - Indonesian) is not the current UI language, but just the first item in the "Change to this language"-list. So while the actual UI language is set to English - English, the "Change to this language"-list is just not set to reflect that.
Based on this I would assume that if I change language to e.g. Swedish the option would still say "Bahasa Indonesia - Indonesian" (I haven't tested this, though, as I'm too lazy).

@komposten Interesting idea, however before changing to English UK the default (for me) WAS English-US and the setting displayed "English".
I think that as the alternatives to English-US have to be set via "chrome settings" and not Vivaldi's own settings, the UI just hasn't been expanded (yet).
