Vivaldi is the best thing that has happened in my life
-
I just came here to create this topic about my love to Vivaldi! After Opera 12 demise I felt lonely. Not a single browser has become a home to me, I have literally stopped all my browsing habits - instead I used any browser available and felt really bad about it. New Opera is just a shabby Chrome port, it has never been my home. Vivaldi is my home now. The moment I started Vivaldi for the first time I understood - this is where old school spirit of old Opera lives. This is what I will use now. This is what I wanted all these years, this is what I've been waiting for so long. You guys have changed the world for me today. I thank you on my behalf. I even drank a glass of whiskey for you, because it feels so awesome to use Vivaldi. Exact same feeling I had long time ago when I first downloaded Opera 7. I wish you the very best. Keep up the good work. You made my day today.
This might be a spam topic. Well, I just had to express my feelings somewhere.
I know exactly what you mean - maybe not the best thing in my life but definitely best browsing experience since end of Opera Presto developement.
There is still lots of work to do, but so far so good, and I hope it will stay that way. -
Dear lord, I have found even a perfect topic to express myself.
Note: I used Opera since version 5. I'm still using Opera 12. Newer versions to me are an abhorrent transformation of a browser I deeply love. I use palemoon instead, when some issues force me to use a different browser.
Here is my experience:
1. Read about Vivaldi on slashdot.
2. Downloaded and installed it.
3. Opened it and tried it for about one minute.
3.1 All my immediate shortcuts worked. Even single key ones, without configuring anything! 8, 200% zoom. 7, back to 100% etc, wow, thanks!
3.2 It has the disable/enable images where I'm used to it. Wow… thanks, again!
3.3 Rocker mouse gestures worked! Kind of. Unresponsive and weird but... A MILLION TIMES, YES!!!
3.4 Tried a few other shortcuts, most of them recognized and doing what I expected them to.
3.5 Couldn't navigate with shit+arrows.
3.6 No Links tab.
3.7 Just for fun, /. in address bar worked!
...
4. Profit???? (in some future, I hope)I don't like the Windows 8 look and feel of Vivaldi. Having said that, I'm very please with this technical preview and I'll surely follow this browser development. If it adds a few more features Opera 12 has allowing me to do things such as open the Links tab, cherry-pick a few links and quick-download them, quick F12 kind of menu to enable and disable plugins and javascript and finally being fast as Opera 12 is this will be like a dream coming true. Later on I'll evaluate it more carefully but for now it suffices to say, thank you guys!
Roberto.

Two words: Thank you!
Now more words; since the demise of Opera 12, I have like so many others found myself unable to find a replacement browser that is at once compatible and as feature rich. Out of the box features that is, not bit and bobs cobbled together in the form of extensions coded by who knows and usually problematic to get working correctly, not always updated, etc…
I've looked long and hard, and run into some very obscure browsers, and tried as far as I can tell everything out there to replace my good old Opera, without success.
In short, thank you for giving us a browser that is a joy to use, in the hope that as it matures it will become what once was and more. I now once again have a browser to recommend!

I cannot believe this is happening. :)))
I have used Opera since 5 to 12, I still use 12 for some safe transactions. Since end of Presto I have tried new Opera 23-27, FF, K-Meleon, new IE, just name it. Nothing is even close to Opera 12 stability, flexibility and safety.
I am not a fan of Opera on Presto, I just see how good it was.If you just copy all the options, features Opera 12 was giving to us, namely - everything, I am willing to pay every year 3 bucks for using Vivaldi. Not much? I am sure that many of the current 20 mln users of Opera 12 are ready to pay a small amount but for something good. That is why they still use Opera 12. If only 10 mln of them pay 3 bucks yearly you have a nice business. Even if they pay one buck per year.

My heard start beat again.

My heart start beat again.

Not sure if it is the best thing happened in my life, but surely the day of the Opera switch was one of the worst.
Also Vivaldi is the only good news since the first day of 2014, the day when the Otter Browser project was announced.
Otter and Qupzilla, are surely two nice projects but both are mostly one man projects so the developement is not so fast, I hope Vivaldi can evolve faster.
Shame on (actual) opera management for driving Opium on a dead end.
My best wishes to Vivaldi team and to Mr von Tetzchner
