Starting background
-
Dear developers, if you pay attention to this:
Please eliminate the V logo white background that is displayed at the start of Vivaldi or change it to a dark background.
If evening I turn the computer on and start the Vivaldi, my eye fall out the white background light.
On this theme does not help, as it will only be actual later.
Thank You -
@csablak You can have any colour you want. Just edit the theme. My window background is light green on starting Vivaldi.

@pesala
Background colour doesn't affect the new window splash screen. My theme has a dark background colour (#26272A), but the splash still looks like this:
-
@cheve11e_191 This what I see when I startup Vivaldi, so it is fixable by editing the theme.
-
@pesala definitely not! I set color to dark blue, and I have exactly the same background as you have now added.
Color this starting splash screen, cannot be modified through Themes.
-
Yes, it would be desirable that the Splash Screen had the color of the theme and not this gray
By the way, Vivaldi is the only browser that I have that has a Splash Screen when booting -
@cheve11e_191 OK, I see that the theme colour is only seen before the page loads, but why is csablak complaining about bright white if the background is a dull grey?
-
@pesala everyone has different eyes
-
@pesala
Gray, white no matter, light and done. It's very dazzling evening in the dark. -
@csablak said in Starting background:
Gray, white no matter
Obviously it does matter. By exaggerating "my eye fall out the white background light," you failed miserably to describe the issue properly.

Until support for this is officially added, you can modify your
browser.html
to fix this. Open it up and change the line startingbackground-color
to whatever suites your needs. -
To get a splash screen like @Catweazle suggests,
change the
browser.html
line to the following:background-color: #222;
and change the
resources/vivaldi-splash-icon.svg
fill property to the following:<g fill="#e8478f">
You can then fiddle with these two hex values, and this hex colour picker, to find one that you like.

@lonm
Super. This good. Thank You. -
@pesala
It happens. I'm thinking in Hungarian. Many Hungarian words do not have a real equivalent in English. -
@csablak I voted for the Feature. I would have thought it would be part of the theme, but apparently not.
There are any number of tricks that can be done by editing CSS, but I hope for most of this to be integrated into Settings. They have already been posted as separate Feature Requests.
- Transparent Speed Dial Thumbnails
- Remove navigation bar from Start Page
- Changing the size of the thumbnails
- Lock Speed Dial entries, etc.
-
I support this request - but I'd also extend it: before showing the "startup logo", for a short time the window background of Vivaldi is equally gray. This gray should also use the background colour of the current theme.
On my system, the plain gray background is shown equally long as the logo - and darkening/theming the logo seems pointless if the light gray background flashes before a dark logo...
-
@pesala In the meantime, while we wait for this request, why don't we open a thread where collect starting background .css user edit?
Just for fun, and to offer a simple way for those who don't want or don't know how to edit... -
