Full Page Translation

would very much like to see full page translation like we have in Chrome and Yandex browser. here's a use case
- browse to foreign language site
- right click and select "Translate to "whatever language you prefer""
- web page is translated to your language of choice
-
"This like that" is a least useful description. Please state the desired behavior clearly.

@mtumishi_burika Never say "never" because it would cost Vivaldi to implement it.
@gwen-dragon said in Any way to get automatic page translation?:
The use of Google translation API/Cloud is not without costs. See for private use and for commercial
Vivaldi does not yet have sufficient users to be self-financing. Maybe when it is they would consider it.
It should be easy enough to use search engines on a menu to translate selected text as we can already select any text and use Search with.
You can also add a Web Panel for Bing's Microsoft Translation. This will translate a whole page by pasting a URL.

@pesala appreciate the explanation Thank you. figured as much as i've been requesting this for a long time without any success. lets keep the hope that Vivaldi will gain enough users to be self sustaining but in the meantime thank you for the alternatives.

@shadess Pretty sure you can download it to your desktop and drag it to your extensions page.

This is an excellent extension, many options in the settings. - S3.Tradutor

Thanks, was wondering if it'd just work like that. Will have to try!
@juniorsilva30 There's many of these around but don't think it really does what (I think) the OP is after. Chrome's in page translation is so much better than all these clunky click a button and load the whole page again through translate.google.com extensions.

Perhaps, but it has a cost associated with it.

so this is a vicious circle ...
I can't make vivaldi as the default browser because there is no page translator in it like in chrome -

Not at all. There are workarounds to get a full page translation — they are just not as convenient as having a paid-for translation service built-in.
It may be a deal-breaker for you, but the user-base of Vivaldi continues to grow steadily. It may be several years before they have sufficient revenue to pay for this, but the lack of it does not stop it from growing.
-
Yes, it will be really useful if vivaldi has a built-in full webpage translation like Chrome and edge.
-
@mtumishi_burika : You can use this addon from Google Store. And it works perfectly as old Google Translate for any web page. You must only click the button and select Translate this page.

Hey!
Check out today's Snapshot, which includes our new translation feature. There's more work to be done, so please report any issues you encounter in the Snapshot blog post's comment section and/or on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/. -
Full page translation is already available in 4.0 Stable build, so I think this FQ could be tagged as DONE.
There will always be more languages to add, so there is not much point tagging it as In Progress.
