Google Keep extension not working in Vivaldi
-
@ryofurue Just a follow-up... Earlier this year, Google started to lock down access to its Sync services from 3rd-party browsers; see comment #22 in the following bug for more details:
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=677887
So, don't even try to get "Google Sync" working in Vivaldi; Google definitely does not support it, and there's also no telling what subtle breakage might occur should you choose to ignore this little safety tip.

@xyzzy Thank you for your detailed answer. I now understand the situation.
In that case, it would be nice if there is an option (on Google's part or Vivaldi's) that the user can pay for the service. I would pay to get all Google services to work on Vivaldi.
Currently, it bothers me a lot that I cannot create a Google Calendar entry from a Gmail message. The Google Calendar addon doesn't work on Vivaldi, because of the same issue as with Google Keep, I believe, last time I checked.
Google is not a charity
Correct. In a similar vein, the browser is not a hobby to me. I use it as a professional tool in my work. For that reason, I want it to work as smoothly as possible without any hitch and I'm willing to pay for it.

I just added the Google Keep extension from the Chrome Web Store to my Vivaldi browser. When I tried to save an article to Keep I got a message that said "You must signin to use the Google Keep Chrome Extension". Under the message was a "SIGN IN" button. When I clicked on the button, to sign in, the following address popped up in the address bar:
"vivaldi://chrome-signin/?access_point=6&reason=0" - but nothing further happened. I tried "Enter" on my keyboard. Nothing happened. What is it that I am supposed to sign into - Vivaldi or Google? (I am already signed into both browsers on my computer.) Why doesn't the address bar link take me to wherever it is that I am supposed to sign in?
In short, how do I get the Google Keep extension to work in Vivaldi?
Thanks!

@phil048 It's not possible to sign in to Google services (as though you were Chrome) in Vivaldi. Hence, I'm not sure Google Keep can work.
You also can't sign in to Vivaldi. There's nothing to sign in to until Sync is finished (not too long now).

Bonjour,

J'ai déjà reset le navigateur mais aucun changement.
Merci d'avance pour votre retour
Hello,
Google Keep user, I installed the extension on my favorite Browser ^ _ ^ only here, the extension asks me to connect to my google account and hangs on the page:Vivaldi: // chrome-signin / access_point = 6 & reason = 0
I already reset the browser but no change.

https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/8129/list-of-incompatible-extensions
Google Data Saver/Drive/Keep: These extension won't work as they uses chrome sync or other api which vivaldi hasn't. Same for extensions which trigger chrome://chrome-signin/?access_point=6&reason=0.
So BAD

I take it the Google Keep extension still doesn't work on Vivaldi ? If so, shame. Would be really good to have this one working.
-
If you depend on google services that only work with Chrome, then bad news for you, Vivaldi can't support them. Probably no other browser can, I'd like to know if any can actually.

Have installed Google Keep ext. to my Vivaldi 1.14.1077.60 (Stable channel) (64 bit), OS Linux. Doesn't work. While attempting to enter the Google account a page opens but the button "Enter" doesn't respond to clicking.

Hi there,
I have just successfully installed Vivaldi on Linux. I then installed on Windows - which worked.
I also installed Google Keep extension which is important for me. This seems to render Vivaldi inoperable so I can no longer use it - I can't even start the browser now. I have now removed Vivaldi from my computer.
I am frustrated by this for several reasons:
I had hoped for a more mature product than this - I at least expected a graceful fail!
Secondly, I activated the sync feature, which necessitated the creation of a user account. Since I no longer intend to use this software I wish to eradicate that account. I can't see any way to do this. I feel this is very much at odds with Vivaldi's purported values of being secure. I would be grateful if someone could explain how to delete my account.
I last tried Vivaldi several years ago and it will probably be another several years before I am encouraged to take another look. Small software companies really do have such small window of opportunity to gain traction!
Thanks
Graham

@gjp123
Hi, I use Keep on Linux with a Web Panel, no need for extension.
For account questions > https://vivaldi.com/contact/
and I need help ... with your question.Cheers, mib

@gjp123 said in Windows and Google Keep:

I wonder if it's related to Google's boycott against Vivaldi, in which case the fault lies with Google, not V.

Google keep extension requires you to log in. The first time you installed it, it should have prompted you t to do so. Perhaps without this, it wont work

If I open the Google Keep app from Chrome, it opens fine, but when trying to open it from Vivaldi, it says "Failed to authenticate. Changes will be synced when you sign in." I am signed in my Google account in Vivaldi. Can anyone please advise me on how I can get the Google Keep app to work in Vivaldi?

Despite recent Vivaldi tips email advising that Chrome extensions work in Vivaldi, I cannot get Google Keep Chrome extension to function in Vivaldi browser. The extension icon appears on the address bar, but when I try to add a web page to my Keep notes a box appears asking me to sign (to my Google account presumably). No response however from this link when I click it. So am I right in supposing this extension (and possibly others that require a Google sign in) will not work in Vivaldi?

Re: Google Keep extension
Google keep seems to have stop working once again in Vivaldi- Install - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-keep-chrome-extens/lpcaedmchfhocbbapmcbpinfpgnhiddi/related
- The following site loads after install is complete.
https://accounts.google.com/signin/chrome/sync?ssp=1&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F
Error on page: 404.
That’s an error. The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know. - The extension does install, however, if you click to use it wants to sign-in and results in the same page error listed above.
When replicating on Google Chrome
Step 2. the following site loads
https://accounts.google.com/signin/chrome/sync/identifier?ssp=1&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&flowName=GlifDesktopChromeSyncIf you copy and paste the same link to Vivaldi you get the error message and not the sign-in page.

When I download GK extension and press on the extension, it tells me that I need to sign in. But when I press on sign in, nothing happens, like there is no button there.
