Falcon Heavy Ready for Lift-off
-
About 3 minutes to go now. Who's watching?
-
Around ~4 min there was a long "gap" in the stream - I think there was something wich we shouldn't see.
-
@bimlas No gap in the TV coverage here. Everything, including the booster landings, has gone perfectly so far.
-
I caught it. Impressive stuff.
-
- Launch successful
- Boosters separated OK
- Side boosters landed OK
- Central booster re-entry OK
- Central booster communications lost. Waiting for new
So far so good. Davie Bowie on his way to Mars.
-
@ayespy Sorry, I mean the "logo" under the gap: it showed for a while, then switched to peoples.
-
I was late to the party, but have just now watched a video clip. To my surprise, i found myself clapping & crying. It [but not me] was magnificent.
-
@steffie Indeed, it was.
-
The launch was almost completely successful.
- The upper stage completed its third burn six hours after launch and is hopefully heading towards Mars' orbit.
- Only the third booster failed to land safely, running out of fuel and hitting the ocean at 500 km/h.

There's lots i love about this epic achievement. I love its technical competence. However i also love its nod to apropos cultural references; David Bowie, HHGTTG. Just marvellous.
Now we must hope that the mission is not thwarted by accidentally bumping into the twelve-foot piranha bees or the enormous mutant star-goat of Golgafrincham.
-
Hopefully, it won't collide with Bertrand Russell's Teapot.
