Microsoft Teams: Unsupported Browser
-
When going to the site: https://teams.microsoft.com
I get the message that my browser is not supported.Spoofing the user agent string with the Developer Tools (More Tools -> Network Conditions) forwards me to the actual site.
I feel like this should be added to the list of sites, where you must hide your identity...

@mau Mmh so at least we both use different versions. If you'll have a little spare time you could give the latest snapshot version a try. You can install it as standalone for testing purposes so it won't affect your normal stable installation.
Here is how to install vivaldi as standalone on windows:
- Get the latest snapshot version: https://vivaldi.com/blog/snapshots/rearrangeable-search-engines/
- Click in the install window on "Advanced"
- Select the dropdown menu for "Install Type" --> select "Standalone"
- Select a path where to install (you can choose what ever you like but I highly recommend to choose something different from your stable install path - just to be sure nothing gets messed up)
- Install
Now there should be a black Vivaldi logo or you can find it in the install folder --> %Application%.
I'd try it myself but I am at work right now and sadly my rights on the working pc's are restricted like ****.

Access to the webpage works. Additionally, I get the prompt to authenticate, and the 2FA process works. Once it should get to the teams site, I get an error page;
"Hmm. Your browser version isn't supported. Quickest solution? Download the desktop app."This is on the latest version from the download page: 1.14.1077.41

@mikemiller Perhaps you just need to spoof User Agent.
-
I'm also suffering from this with the latest Vivaldi Development version
https://teams.microsoft.com/_#/unsupportedBrowser
How would I spoof the User agent? -
@s_paternotte The easiest way is to install a user agent spoofing extension form the Chrome Play Store.
-
@ayespy Yeah I found that tip on the forum. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the Microsoft Teams website.
I guess I need to file a complaint with Microsoft. -
@s_paternotte Have a look at this thread, another user found a "workaround"
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/24590/running-ms-teams-on-vivaldi/ -
Thanks. So it requires a combination of switch user agent to Edge and [ctrl-shift-del] clear the cache.
Quite tedious, but it works.
Are there any downsides to having the user agent switched to Edge all the time? -

Well, you're NOT using Edge!
User agent switchers are a "crude" workaround for badly written websites and their need should result in a fault report to the website maintainers. -
Let's chime in at Microsoft Teams Uservoice

Until yesterday, the User-agent spoofing fix worked OK. But now I cannot get it to work any longer, no matter how much cache I delete, and using either Developer tools or a Chrome extension to spoof the user agent. Can MS have changed anything on their side? Or is it the latest Vivaldi update causing this?
-
@thomassvensen I think it's a result of changes to Microsoft's authentication process. I managed to get it working by adding microsoftonline.com and sharepoint.com to the Edge spoof list.
Unfortunately can't get it working in the Web Panel, which is what I'd like! I'm guessing the spoofing extension doesn't apply there. Anyone know how to get that working?
-
Hmm, I tried teams.microsoft.com, microsoftonline.com, and microsoftonline.com set to spoof to FF33, but that didn't work. I picked the most popular extension under "User-Agent Switcher", but it doesn't appear to have an Edge option.
Any ideas?

@penguinairlines
I am not running Windows at moment but I would start Edge open https://www.whatismybrowser.com/detect/what-is-my-user-agent
and add it to UA switcher in Vivaldi.Cheers, mib

Use this plugin
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-and-m/bhchdcejhohfmigjafbampogmaanbfkgset it to chrome 75.
Job done -
The user-agent switcher with the edge agent string doesn't work for me. It is impossible to login to Teams using Vivaldi.
I did add my vote and request in the microsoft's site.
I don't get it, though; if Vivaldi uses a chrome user agent by default, why doesn't the site accept that?

@Khaolos I had this problem as well and I have found this User-Agent Switcher and Manager to take care of it.
Website: https://add0n.com/useragent-switcher.htmlThe user-agent that works for me: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/77.0.3835.0 Safari/537.36
As https://teams.microsoft.com/ really is my only problematic website I have used the following options in User-Agent Switcher:
- White-list mode: teams.microsoft.com
- Do not spoof: google.com/recaptcha
(Hmmm, does this really apply in combination with the white-list mode? Probably not.)
- White-list mode: teams.microsoft.com

It is absolutely outrageous that after so many years, Vivaldi is still blocked by MS
