Wrong mouse pointer location since snapshot 1.14.1072.3 (Chromium update)
-
I can't use any snapshot past 1.14.1064.3 because the mouse pointer is offset by 320 px to the left and 120 px up. I can reproduce it on 2 different computers with the following configuration:
PC-1: W10-Pro x64 - Vivaldi newer than 1.14.1064.3 x32
PC-2: W10-Pro x64 - Vivaldi newer than 1.14.1064.3 x64It doesn't happen in "Private Mode" but it still happens in regular mode with all extensions disabled.
I suspect it has to do with the Chromium update to 64.0.3282.86.
Any help?

@rhk That issue was definitely there, but I don't see it all the time in 1.14.1077.25 (though it does sometimes crop up in relation to web panels). I've filed a bug about this, so hopefully it gets fixed.
-
Yep I have it too but only sometimes when I get redirected by links I click. Until this is solved you should be able to bypass this like this:
copy the link that leads you to a site where this offset happens and paste it in a new tab in the urlbar and hit enter
this should be all to be done to use the site without offset.
(the credit to this workaround doesn't belong to me but I forgot who found out about this - sorry) -
An even quicker solution is to right-click the tab and click clone tab, or to use the Clone tab quick command.
-
@lonm Ah - good to know. Thanks
-
Thanks for the workaround tip. It works but it's not very practical to do in an everyday workflow. It just takes too much time. I hope the problem will be fixed soon. It definitely has to be fixed before 1.14 becomes stable.
-
@rhk Let me guess: It is the width of the panel you have open and the height of the tab+address+(maybe) bookmarks bar?
If yes: Known bug which should be finally fixed soon-ish (and in fact should already have been fixed with 1.14.1077.3)

I'm in 1.14 stable on Linux and it's not fixed here. First time I've seen it, but I don't use the snapshots.

The last update of stable Vivaldi in Windows is reproducing this issue.
My Vivaldi is 1.14.1077.41 (Stable channel) (32 bits) in Windows 10.It seems to fail on google.com, but if I clone the tab, all is working fine!
Any ideas?

I can reproduce it on the latest stable 1.14 as well as the latest snapshot 1.15.1089.3. Try https://www.pcworld.com/ . No hyperlink is working on the site for me. The only way to open a hyperlink is to right click and open in new tab or window. I can reproduce it on 2 totally different PC's.
It looks like I have to drop Vivaldi for the time being and go back to Chrome until the browser is stable and functional again.

I experienced the same issue using 1.14.1077.41 on Windows 7 64bit, so I reverted back to 1.13.1008.44. The workaround is just too much hassle. Really unfortunate that this got overlooked it's a showstopper for a stable release imho.
Downgrading didn't cause any trouble except that cached pages appear to be black and need to be reloaded. At least I finally got to sort my searches!

same problem with Vx64 1.15.1089.3 Win7 x64 at https://www.onlinetvrecorder.com/

Same thing here re cached tabs. Even reloading didn't work. I had to activate the address bar and hit Enter. Then it was fine. No other repercussions. And as you say, the searches remain sorted, which is nice.
A little disconcerting re team vivaldi. I had just recommended someone give it a try.

Agreed that opening links often results in an offset, sometimes if I click a couple of centimetres below the form control or link I can continue but it's really annoying, for want of a better word I'm using 1.14.1077.41 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
on Fedora linux. -
Thanks Gwen-Dragon. Another observation is that it also affects window controls, like the scroll bars. Hopefully the fix addresses that too.
-
It looks like Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.15.1094.3 solved the problem. I'm very happy that I can use Vivaldi again as my main browser. Congrats and thanks to the dev's!

Linux here. So the installation of a SS can be done alongside the Stable version, and uses the same V. user profile?
-
@paul1149 No, it does not use the same profile. that's the entire meaning of a different app name in Linux. Linux absolutely segregates Stable and Snapshot, and considers them different products. If you want them to be the same, you have to either sync them or copy user files from the older to the newer.
