Vivaldi 1.14 Linux, delayed autoupdate
-
Autoupdate on Linux has been held back for today’s 1.14, to give Linux distributions a chance to update a system component we use to display HTML5 MP4 videos.

Just fyi, Manjaro Stable repos upgraded to Chromium 64 yesterday... NF now streams fine in Chromium. BTW, this is not a complaint, just a fyi.
-
yo, we use this package for arch linux and install that as an additional package
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vivaldi-codecs-ffmpeg-extra-bin/ -
@steffie: Yeah users of Arch based distros should have no problem anyway. The packages on the AUR are maintained by a Vivaldi Soprano, Ike Devolder and he maintains a vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs package for us as well that contains an updated version of this lib.
Better yet, use his herecura repo (not updated yet but will be very shortly!)
-
@awlincoln: That will not work as it is based on Chromium 63 right now and thus is unsuitabe and will not work. For Arch use the packages from Vivaldi Soprano (and TU), Ike Devolder, in his herecura repo (not updated yet but will be very shortly!).
Alternatively, you could also use:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs/
Which is also maintained by him. Be aware however that, that will require a big download and some building.

Indeed, it's great, isn't it? I changed to this repo only within the past fortnight, & am revelling in it. Much easier for lazy cows like moi.

The ffmpeg-codecs build is at around 10% so a little patience is still needed
-
@steffie: Yeah @BlackIkeEagle does a great job!
-
@ruario: thank you for your information.
~/.local/lib/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so
is that the only possible way right now?
can we install this library for all users to the vivaldi folder?UPD. looks like
/opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so
doesn't work anymore, but it works great for/opt/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so
with v64. -
@blackikeeagle: Sorry I had to restart the ffmpeg codecs build, I triggered something else that broke packaging
-
@blackikeeagle: Done, Go and update your browser and ffmpeg-codecs now
-
@awlincoln: Indeed “/opt/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so” should work nicely but @BlackIkeEagle is done now so you can just use the package from his repo!

Please fix the double-reaction on middle mouse button clicks. Happens on Linux, not sure on Windows.
Also incorrect window being focused when clicking links in external applications went back. Two regressions since 1.13 I think that needs to be adressed.
Oh, and that mouse offset bug, where real click is made about 30px about visible pointer is big issue too.
Way too much issues happend just before 1.14 release
-
@blackikeeagle: Unfortunately NOT able to update ffmpeg-codecs on manjaro linux.
-
I'm getting it for my Mint 18.3... but the download is super slow, 7kB/s...
I don't feel slow opening webpages. Any constraint from the server? -
