Proxy stopped to work
-
Hi,
I installed on my new computer vivaldi and then I noticed that the proxy is not working any more. I was using "export http_proxy=..." way if I recall corectly. I did try also --proxy-server option but the same (none) result. Google search results are pointing to Network setting but I do not see any Network section in my Vivaldi setting ... Without a proxy is for me Vivaldi a useless browser Any hint is welcome.# dpkg -l |grep vivald ii vivaldi-stable 1.13.1008.40-1 amd64 A new browser for our friends

@dodiak
Hi, copy past chrome://settings and search for proxy > Open proxy settings
At my system system proxy settings open and you can set up your proxy.
Tested with anonymous proxy.Cheers, mib

chrome://settings
Hm, thanks for the answer. It does open system wide proxy setting. But I want to have proxy just for vivaldi ... So, that's not a solution ...

Hm, you are right, if I set a proxy in Vivaldi Chrome use the same setting.
Makes no sense to me.Cheers, mib

Hm, vivaldi --proxy-server="183.88.232.207:8080"
does work for me.
It is a server in Thailand.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin As I mentioned above, it does not work for me. And it was working o another computer with fvwm. Now I have gnome and Vivaldi uses always system wide (gnome) setting. I tried not only --proxy-server but also env setup $http_proxy which did work before as well ....

@gwen-dragon I fully agree it did work on my ald comp under fvwm. Now I have new comp with Debian 9 and ... I tested one more times:
- --proxy-server does work. Sorry, There had to be some typo before
- export http_proxy - my prefered method I used before, does not work
- GUI proxy setting starts gnome proxy setting
