Map not loaded at Iowa DOT site
-
This site https://lb.511ia.org/ialb/winterdriving/routeselect.jsf;jsessionid=FmchQAWDIiWkcAhkfteWmYzZQdW99-27sI22iqE_.ptk-iawf12?text=m&view=iowacity provides info on winter driving conditions. It does so by providing a background map then placing lines of different colors on the map signifying what conditions the roads are in. Vivaldi will load the site and the map but won't load the colored lines that provide the current info. If I'm doing something wrong maybe someone could point it out to me. Thanx bob
-
@bakerbob It looks the same in all of my browsers, including Vivaldi. I suspect the colored highways might be flash-bassed. Do you have PPAPI Flash enabled in Vivaldi?
-
Thank you for the help. I don't see any reference to Flash in "Settings" so I checked the "Site info" icon and changed the Flash from "Ask" to "Allow". Should I look somewhere else?
-
@bakerbob If it's Flash, the Site Info setting should do it. Do you run any extensions?
-
It's not flash-based.
On loading the site in my Vivaldi, the lines were immediately loaded - while the map was not.
As JS is disabled (which explains why the map doesn't load) as well as flash this must be something else.
The "lines" are loaded as a pre-rendered image. Why this is not displayed in your browser, I cannot say.
-
@ayespy I don't think I run extensions. Anymore, all I ever add to browsers is mouse gestures and Vivaldi comes with this feature. How do I check?
-
@gwen-dragon I did that and there was a thing from McAfee that wasn't active. I deleted it and closed Vivaldi. When I reopened Vivaldi the site still didn't work. This site works on SeaMonkey & Iron. Then I went to my laptop (Win 10 64 also) Vivaldi won't load the lines there either but Pale Moon will. I appreciate the help and I would understand if you wanted to give up here.

Can you open the following image?
https://lb.511ia.org/ialb/overlay_image.srv?winterdriving=Iowa City
This seems to be the "grid lines", which load fine here (1.14, Mac)
-
@morg42 No I can't, I just get a blank screen.
-
Maybe you have a kind of adblocker or something which prevents you from loading this?
-
@morg42 Maybe. I don't remember adding it. Wouldn't it have shown up when I opened "Extensions"? If it is effecting both the desktop & the laptop is it possible that it is in the router somehow?
-
@bakerbob I don't use 3rd party virus protection anymore. Can Windows virus & Firewall cause these types of symptoms?
I'm just spitballing here, based on what the 2 machines have in common. At the end of the day it's probably going to be a problem with the operator -
I didn't see which OS you're using. Maybe you can try another browser on the same machine, to identify if it's a Vivaldi, machine or network problem?
And yes, if you haven extensions installed, they should show under "extensions"
-
Funny - now the image only doesn't show here; original website still works as it should. I get the impression that the image may only be served if referrer or cookies match.

@morg42 Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm just going to use SeaMonkey for this page. Have a good holiday season
