Download progress not showing in the download sidebar.
-
It now seems to me like it might have been caused by full donload history. I didnt realise it might be a thing. Its working fine for now since I cleared the history of downloads. Ill see how in goes in a couple of days. Thanks to anyone trying to help me.

@stehno I see the download progress all right and the completed downloads do appear in the left side column, but they don't appear in the target destination, which is C/desktop/DOWNLOADS. I can't get downloads to open on Vivaldi anymore. I have to download things on another browser to open them. I'm on Win 7, Vivaldi 1.12.955.48, trying to download Malwarebytes and Glary Utilities updates. This has been a problem with Vivaldi for a while now.
-
@werewolf Check the download location in Settings.
-
@pesala I did.
-
@werewolf Ive got it set on a forced pop up to designate the download directory. Try that.

How do I set it to "forced pop up"?

which is C/desktop/DOWNLOADS
Is that a misprint or did you really forget the ":" ( C:/desktop/DOWNLOADS )?

Hey I think you got it! I'll try a download now and see what happens...
-
Thanks, TbGbe! That did the trick. I never would have even thought of that!
-
@werewolf I might have poorly described what I meant. When you simply leave the directory path empty, it will then always ask you where to download the file in question. It works the best for me since I would then move the files somewehere else anyway.
-
@werewolf That's the benefit of providing details rather than say "It don't work, fix it!!"
-
@tbgbe I've fought the good fight to resist my pedantry, but i lost. Pedantry 1000, Steffie 0. Didn't you both make a "typo" here?
C:/desktop/DOWNLOADS --> that's Linux nomenclature wrt slashes. For Windows it's C:\desktop\DOWNLOADS , isn't it?
Sorry, but i really did put up a fight.
-
@steffie Yes, the backslashes are Windows, but in many cases Windows will simply convert the front slashes and pretend you did it right.
-
@ayespy Aha.
What would be even nicer, of course [satire alert] would be if Win saw those slashes instead of sloshes, said to itself "oh right, here's a discerning user who really wants to use Linux not Win, so i shall now uninstall myself & install a Linux distro for this illuminated user (& i know which distro & DE to select based on my analysis of all the private user data i've been collecting & sending home to mother all this time)". Or something. I can't envisage any downsides to that plan...
-
@ayespy BTW, i momentarily misread your
.5TB Mushkin MLC SSD
as
.5TB **Munchkin** MLC SSD
& thought
awwww, that's sooo cute!

Duh.

The URL bar uses forward slashes, so I think either way is right:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/22290/how-to-disable-alt-menu/4
This is also true for local files:
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Bhikkhu%20Pesala/My%20Documents/Websites/Tipitaka/Suttanta/Majjhima/s0202m.mul.htm
-
@steffie Is it a typo when I just copy/paste?
-
@tbgbe Well to preserve the idiomatic consistency, i suppose it's then a copyo/pasteo... [or, allowing for an apparent requirement to remove any final vowel prior to appending the new vowel... copyo/pasto].
-
@steffie Lol, no that would imply incorrect copying wouldn't it? Perhaps I should have just added [sic].
