It’s Internet Day, let’s talk about the Internet

What is the Internet, why should it stay open and how come the browser is the most important programme on your computer? Vivaldi’s devs in plain language.

@mau Lol, that was the first thing that came to my mind too
-
@mau: We know, we know... We will invest in a good mic for the next video, promise
-
It would be worth the effort of remaking this video and replacing it. I think it would only take an hour or so at the most.
-
I think only reprocessing voice with some VST's is needed (eq, gate, compressor, voice enhancers, dereverb etc.) and lower music level, not complete reworking.
-
@asires I think it needs complete reworking.
-
@asires: Room reverberation and reflection is hard to come by - a nice library (The room! Not a VST library.) or something like that with enough structure to make the room sounding more diffuse would help a lot. "Fixing" it after the fact always makes it sound ... strange. Starting with a good recording is a lot easier - a nice microphone with a good directional characteristic and less distance to the person who gets recorded would of course help too.
Other than that: Nice video. Loved the spaceship comparison and the description why a free internet is important.
-
@olgaa: Maybe also another recording software would make a lot. There seems to be a HUGE lossy compression applied to the recording.
Even a basic smartphone with its little microphone can record a much better voice. If you record at least at 44 kHz/16 bit. -

awesome. on 2030, internet will be a great technology and i hope vivaldi become a great browser
In 2030 we implant a chip in the brain with Vivaldi as a default browser, and then welcome to Universal Consciousness.

@catweazle: Goodbye individuality? No thank you.

Logical trend of the desktop PC> smartphone> Google Glases> computerized contact lenses are things that already exist. Adding tendencies of the Body Hack with electronic devices to increase our faculties, which also already exists and which is spreading.
Not necessarily the individuality is lost, because, just as with current devices connected to the network, we only receive the things to which we have access and emit what we want to transmit, only more directly, without taking the smartphone out of our pocket.
The danger of surveillance is the same as now. -
@catweazle: You have some far reaching dreams! I have great reservations over terms like (and the implications of) a "Universal Consciousness". Moreover, the use of external devices is fine by me. Internally, unless medically necessary...not so much. Just my opinion. Cheers!

They are not dreams, but as you see they are already reality and I only draw the conclusions of this development. There are already companies that use chips implanted in their employees that allows them access without having to use an identifier card or access codes. It is irrelevant if I find it wrong or good, technology will take this path

@catweazle: Your view of the future is yours. It also illustrates why I'm not an advocate of "Universal Consciousness". Both of us obviously have differing views. Good luck to both of us.

The universal consciousness was sarcastic. Surely our desires for the future do not differ as much as you think.
But it is not what we want or not, it is what will happen in all probability. Even a simple smartphone is capable of converting a human into a zombie, so that in several countries even already put lanes for smartphone users, due to accidents because of this.
