Possible to embed images in forum post?
-
I don't see any instructions or controls for embedding an image in a post. Am I missing it? Thanks.
-
Yes it is, just hit reply and press the rightmost button on the toolbar to upload an image to Vivaldi's servers.
-
Another possibility is to use the Markdown code

Ok, thanks much guys. The problem was that my dark theme here was burying the toolbar on the comp window. I've corrected that now.
BW,
Paul -
That works for online images, but apparently not local ones. Very nice. Thanks.

BW,
PaulMost of times I use the Markdown codes to insert screenshots and to edit, this offers me more possibilities than the toolbar

For screenshots I use ShareX (Open Source), which also allows me to make captures in gif and avi, not just images

hello paul1149 and everyone
first success here was quite by accident ; I accidentally dropped a local image being dragged, dropped it into the preview box mistakenly and the image was suddenly showing in the post.
next time we wanted to include an image the drag and drop local computer image into composer body worked.
yes it works to drag. a dialogue even shows, when dragging, that says drop images here. -
See that "+" over on the preview pane? That indicates you can add attachments there. The actual formats supported is another question, but obviously JPEG works.

No, I don't see a "+" on the Preview. On the Reply toolbar I have an Up arrow superimposed on a cloud, and its bubble says upload image. But I don't see anything for general attachments.

What's a general attachment? You can upload to Vivaldi servers, or load from third party servers. If it's an image you can display it in these forums by either using the cloud button, or the picture button (markdown mentioned above). What are you trying to accomplish?

Text files, logs, etc.

Host the text file / log on a third party server and post a link to it here.

Sometimes I use Lutim for post images, it gives you the url with Markdown Code, ready for paste

@paul1149 On the right hand side (the preview pane) there is a big orange circle with a "+" in it. I'd normally expect such a thing to mean "Add attachment", though no tooltip is shown as to exact meaning. Either clicking it should display a file selector (not tested) or dropping something on it should add it there (as reported previously by another poster).
-
@sgunhouse That circle hides/shows the whole reply interface. In the extensions and userscripts we have started to replace this misleading font-icon.
-
If you never tried it out, chances are you either don't need it, or you don't post here very often. But a tooltip is easy to implement. Although people who don't know this are unlikely to use a forum extension in the first place. In truth Vivaldi should do something about it for everyone by default.
