Greetings, V- Community,

You picked stable version, wishing you never a vivaldi problem; wishing you find some nice reasons to frequent community like pictures, music, books, games, modding, ...... ... bring laughter if you will.. to more than fifty new friends have signed up since yourself. Hi, I ri,
Thanks for replying. I hadn't expeceted any replies so soon, so only just noticed that someone had taken the trouble. Very nice of you.
Yeah, I AM a cat person. I DO want to attract friends, All animal, Nature and Vivaldi lovers welcome. No, the milkbone name doesn't suit me, honestly. That is a bit too doggie-come-here! for me! Thanks anyway, though, it was awfully kind of you to suggest it.
Yep, I picked the stable version, which turns out to have a very minor prob. The Reset / Zoom in / Out bar bottom right corner has greyed out. Not responding, don't you know. The search bar and the font have become almost too small to read The Ctrl + 0 and Ctrl + 9 button in the View option is also unresponsive. Since I haven't fiddled with the browser, I'd like to know why this happened, and a fix for this would be grand, if there is one. I don't want to uninstall and reinstall, such a bother, but I will if no other option available. Can you help?
Thanks for replying, and I hope to hear from you soon.

@gwen-dragon
Hi Gwen! Finally, a pronounceable name on V-Forum!
So, just fixed a small bug in Vivaldi . If the number of thumbnails increase and the font and search bars become very tiny, AND the Zoom in /out bar and controls aren't responding, users can go to Appearance Settings - User Interface Zoom - Click it up to 100% and everything returns to normal.
Thought you'd like to know, in case this happens to other users.

Fixed the bug. Just went into Appearance Settings - User Interface Zoom - and clicked it up to 100%. Everything now normal. -
@catnip Answering your "How long" question from the "Fixing Login" thread, I've been using Vivaldi since before release 1.0 (a few versions before TP4 actually).
-
hello Catnip
Good for You! atta Cat/! simple truth that finding a workaround to an issue leads to getting to know the software better. Good for You. You must know vivaldi quite well, from the beginning. Sounds like you are a forum gem asset revealed. -
I ri,
TYVM for replying. No, I'm not an expert. Till a short while ago, I didn't know there was a new "kid browser" on the block offering a lot more than just your common-or-garden everyday browsing experience.
I looked for alternative browsers in the first place, after I uninstalled one I'd used for years on principle, the moment it joined hands with a certain highly unsavoury character for stated Orwellian objectives.
I don't understand why any well-established browser would want to shoot itself in both feet like that, but it happened and I was left only with Opera. Of course, I am very happy with Opera, but experience has taught me that it is way better to have and use two browsers and several search options which bypass the Internet's Inquisitive Club.
I searched for the best alternatives to the deleted browser and Vivaldi's name came up. Did have a few tiny issues with 1.11, including not being able to register to join the community, which was distinctly annoying. Then this minor bug happened yesterday and fortunately I was able to find the simple fix.
In reality it's you guys who are the real whizz-kids.

@Gwen-Dragon Gwen, Could you kindly tell me:
- How to start following friends, and
- How to start a fresh chat if I want to?
Thanks so much.
Cat.
-
@catnip I'm not Gwen-Dragon, but you can follow persons by clicking on their profile name, which takes you to their profile, and then clicking on the "+" sign attached to their profile avatar, and then clicking on the 3 vertical dots to the right of the avatar, you find the option to "continue" a chat with that user. That will enable you to start a fresh chat.

Thank you Ayespy. Very kind of you to reply so quickly. So are you a member of the Lenovo team of techies?
-
@catnip Heh. Not a techie at all. And not related to Lenovo in any way, apart from owning an old Lenovo laptop.
-
@ayespy My Lenovo's about three years old, but I use it carefully and do all my scans and updates. I also clean the machine once every five days so its still good.
Trying to get it to allow me to run a Mint Cinnamon 18.2 DVD. Right now, it won't., till the BIOS settings are enabled. Sigh.
I still use Win 7 but will be forced to switch to Linux full time once MS withdraws all support in January 2020.
I will never use W-10. It is pure spyware. Besides, the whole system is "alive" because it's A.I. based, and its Assistant, Cortana, watches you constantly, and controls or disallows actions. The Assistant also sends everything you do, no matter how "locked" or "confidential", to the servers of the Nosy Club. Brr! By the way, Cortana is the ancient name for a sword. Not nice or attractive. Dangerous.
I need to learn the Linux Mint system and commands thoroughly from now so the transition will be painless.
By the way, there doesn't seem to be any way to change the subject on these little notes. I'm sure Vivaldi will notice and correct it. I don't want to complain all the time, or I'll be known as Ladybug on the V-Forum.

@catnip I don't have any trouble editing mine.
-
@ayespy Good to know. So where's the edit button?
-
@catnip Click the little icon next to the voting arrows, and there should be an edit item in there.
-
@catnip I guess first we should define "these little notes," because I took you to mean notes in the notes panel of the browser, and LonM took you to mean comments/topics in the forums.
Tell me exactly what you mean, and I'll happily tell you how to edit it.
-
By "these little notes", I mean the notes we're exchanging. This, for example, the one you're reading right now.
-
@catnip In the Reply/Quote fields, there is no "subject".
The title is the Title of the whole thread. If you want your reply to have a different Subject, then just type it at the beginning; I doubt changes will be made to allow users to change the thread title for the sake of a (later) Reply or Quote.
Just a thought, you could always ask a mod if it can be changed for the whole thread.
-
@catnip So I'm pretty sure if you go to the FIRST post your created in this topic, you will be able to edit the title, after clicking on the icon made of three little stacked dots at the bottom right side of that post. You fooled me with the use of the word "notes," because in the forums the terms we use are topics/threads, posts/comments.
If for some reason the system does not allow users to edit the titles of the topics they create, I'm happy to change it for you.
