Vivaldi is not recommended for office use - you going to lose your session all the time
-
Base on my experience, I would not recommend companies and other advanced users to use Vivaldi for daily use, due to critical glitches in session manager in Vivaldi, for over 2 years there is no good session manager, the old current one working unclear, unpredictively and very fragile in general any windows glitch or anything which makes you close the browser or restart the computer, you going to lose your tabs.
you may say it's obvious if there other programs make bugs in the system especially on Windows, you technically right it is a good excuse for Vivaldi moderators to say here, I'm not stupid, I use Opera browser as well in the same conditions and why there everything works correctly and I never had to lose my current session, it always knows what tabs are open and opens them all the time no matter how I had to stop the browser, I can even kill the process and still be able to recover tabs in Opera. Please advise your friends and personnel not to use Vivaldi at this moment. It is going to cost you a lot more time, money if you keep your employees on Vivaldi, it's very early to switch to this browser. -
@smbv On the other hand, I use Vivaldi all day every day for my business, do all of my work on it, and have never in two and a half years lost a session.
Some things I don't do: I don't load the browser up with extensions. I don't run with a dirty or corrupted profile. I don't go to websites that break the browser. I don't run sketchy software on my system, or employ unsafe browsing practices so as to get infections. I don't overload my system.
It is true that Vivaldi does not repeatedly save a real time copy of sessions while working at present, but rather saves them on close. Now interestingly, I have crashed the browser a number of times due to bugs or glitches, and in no such case have I lost a session. So I'm not sure why it can close "properly" with some crashes and not others.

I have lost maybe 5-6 sessions since I started using Vivaldi as my primary browser (Tech Preview 1 or 2, I think). Generally, you can restore the session from the Trash can (far right of the tab bar). If that doesn't work, this approach might still solve it: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/18080/help-previous-tabs-not-loaded-lost-100-open-tabs/8
That said, "you are going to lose your session all the time" is not true, at least not for me. If it happens to you often then you must either have a corrupt/broken profile/installation, or you're doing something differently than me. Closing the browser, whether you use the X button, Alt+F4, Task Manger, etc. does not delete your session. If it does remove your session, go to Settings -> Start up and take a look at Startup with and set it to Last Session.

You technically sound right, but I have obviously set to start from the last session, I told you I'm not stupid, I'm a programmer and heavy developer, I do crazy shit, but Vivaldi programmers not that good, session manager still glitchy and won't work as they have described.
I do run applications for my needs, how to fix the profile? I run on Windows 10 on Sky X9E2 max configuration, I do care about my windows, cleaning and so on, it works great with any other apps, but Vivaldi code doesn't represent good feeling, it buggy and not predictable for 2 years I still did not get why it works SOMETIMES, where is the logic? SO bad and angry -this is my feeling now, I really want to switch to the browsers with left-sided tabs. Unfortunately, I have to use Vivaldi at the moment, they have promised session manager a long time ago and still can not make it, so sad that team is too small to make a session manager faster. -
I have Vivaldi on home PC and 2 PCs at work, never lost a session. If anything, before disabling "Continue running background apps when Vivaldi is closed" in advanced settings, it happened that some vivaldi.exe was still in memory running god-knows-what, and relaunching it caused a new window with no tabs to appear. Just killing all vivaldi processes from task manager does the trick, relaunch and voila' all the tabs from last session.
Sorry for you, but your reccomendation is not accepted. Try harder. -
Okay how to constantly keep Vivaldi process in the background to be killed, if there any way to keep it killed would keep my tabs open, I would do it, I going to try hard this weekend how to fix it, if not, I going to tell it here.
I still did not get the answer, unfortunately, developers not aware of this problem even if there any limited number of users involved. Some people say they have never lost a session, but why I keep losing it on almost every machine I am working, do you think it's suspicious? I going to check why my particular Windows doing this, I going to remove everything what has name Vivaldi on my windows10, I going to clean the registry, if there any better way to uninstall Vivaldi please let me know, I cannot tolerate bugs in Vivaldi anymore

That is a lie. Furthermore, this thread you created is entirely disingenuous. In a separate thread in the fora i read before this one, you were also having this same bellyache there, again advertising that you're "not stupid", but i note that several times you have been urged to clean your profile [a corrupted one of which can cause bad things to occur], yet i have not read any subsequent indication that you actually have done so. Maybe less anger, & more attention to detail, might be productive?

Just to clarify - Steffie I did not post anything else on other forums yet, but I will use this stamp to make me noticeable, thank you for pointing this type of style to me. I'm not stupid - It's from one of the jokes that commonly known in one funny video from "Vitalyzdtv cop prank", that funny you think you're smart and got me somewhere
Hey Gwen-Dragon, I get what you saying here, please read a comment from Steffie and ask her where is that user who had the same issue, why I keep loosing tabs and no clear workaround yet, only to reinstall my laptop. It would be good to have proper tabs sync with a profile.
