Every picture tells a story – Vivaldi Browser Snapshot 1.12.955.3

That’s right! Our latest snapshot adds on another fundamental functionality in this digital era – Image Inspector.

Image inspector, good. one less extension to use. Now it only lacks an editable gesture to save images without using the context menu (for example ctrl-click for save to default dir, ctrl-shift-click for "save as" dialog)
-
new tab private in same window when? please make this feature
-
Image information to me does not work. It remains blocked on the writing "image analysis in progress"....
-
Yet another bloatware symptom. Who of yours 1M users really need this? Did you made any assessment before spending devs working hours? I believe the answer is "NO".
Simple image props similar to this extension (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/classic-images/?display=en&reports) is just enough for vast majority.
I'm very disappointed seeing that product has no strategy, no picture of success.

@carlonike: I apologise, maybe I spoke too early. It now works. I do not know why it did not work before.

Who are you to know what are the needs of everyone? The feature was requested since 1.0 betas. I'm glad it's implemented, it's not yet perfect but it's a start and hopefully will get improvements. Surely Classic Images can be taken as an example, as it's itself a try of reintegrating classic Opera functionalities.
Besides, using an externally developed extension doesn't make a browser less bloated than a native function, it's the exact opposite, as an extension uses surely more memory. -
@13-beta2 Really? "Bloatware"? "Who of yours 1M users really need this?". Wow.
- The V Team might not have realised they needed to check in with you for approval before they do stuff.
- If you want a skinny bare browser that does nothing, then you're probably in the wrong place here. Byeeee.
-
@13-beta2: No devs worked on this task, the designers however had a blast making it
-
@aronand No Devs were harmed in the making of this picture...
-
Yellow minimize button still is yellow, even when I have configured it as "Graphite" in System Preferences on Mac OS. Since three Snapshots, I think.

This post is deleted! -
Also worth noting, this one is currently no.3 most upvoted feature request on the forum: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/20037/feature-requests-for-1-12

YEEEEEESSSS !
I needed that !
I just didn't know I needed it up until now!
-
@carlonike: It has to redownload the picture to analyse it. So it might take a bit.
-
@13-beta2: Apparently you didn't use the classic Opera's image properties option...
-
@pdray: Thanks for the report, I've confirmed the issue and we are investigating

A few comments on that awesome new feature :
- Could it be opened directly from the webpage we clicked the image from ?
- Could we have some HTML infos too ? (alt text, title text, etc.)
- Could it be possible to allow selection of any text on the info panel ?
- Could we also have ICC infos ? (for example on http://www.color.org/version4html.xalter)
- Could it be possible, maybe, to have a color picker from the image ? (to sum up, some tiny dev tools inside this info panel)
- And finally, there is still the "Inspect Image" context menu item when the info panel is open. Might be a good choice, but just in case.
And again, this feature is awesome. I just miss some dev infos in it too

@cqoicebordel the picture should be already in cache, that should not take than a fraction of a second.
-
@ian-coog: Yes, but no
Sometimes, the image isn't in the cache at all. And what is in memory is just the "display" part of the image, because it's the only part the rendering engine cares about. So, if it's not in the cache for any reason, it must download it again.
