Vivaldi constantly logging me off
-
When logged in to the markedplace www.finn.no I get logged off randomly. This have never happened i Chrome. Such problems make it difficult to stay with Vivaldi, all though i very much like the browser.
Any suggestions on this? Appreciate any comments. -
I'm only seeing this issue on a busy website with many concurrent users. Unless you are very sure it only happens on Vivaldi, you might want to double check to see if it happens on other browsers.

I have also meet this problem, when i browse https://www.wearzius.no/

@aviv
I've checked with Microsoft Edge for some time now and I don't get kicked out, I have to actively log out myself. -
@gwen-dragon
I use no extensions.
Third party cookies was blocked, so I'll try to allow it now. Checking... -

Tested without blocking third party cookies now, and it works. To me it's a bit exotic that I need to check the preferences for that sort of thing, but ok, i worked out in the end. Thanks alot for the tips! -

Tested without blocking third party cookies now, and it works. To me it's a bit exotic that I need to check the preferences for that sort of thing...Cookies are web-domain-associated snippets of coded information that a website's file places on a visitor's computer for a variety of reasons. There is no difference between 1st and 3rd party cookies, except in terms of context of who placed a given cookie onto a system. If a cookie is associated with a file from the same domain being viewed, it is termed a 1st-party cookie; if the cookie is associated with a file from a different domain, it is then called a 3rd-party cookie.
3rd-party cookies are often used by websites for data-mining to track a user across visits to multiple domains, and many users want to block this tracking. On the other hand, some websites choose to use alternate, special, or multiple server domains to process their log-ins, and these may be different domains from that of the primary website to be viewed as a result of a log-in. In these cases, 3rd-party cookies must be enabled for that site in order to successfully log in and to remain logged in.
For such log-in sites using 3rd-party cookies, either one must blanket accept all 3rd-party cookies or else employ a browser cookie manager that permits site-by-site exceptions permitting 3rd-party cookies only with selected sites. Fortunately Vivaldi provides the built-in ability to set cookie site-exceptions via left-clicking the security symbol at the left of the address bar when visiting the site > Site Settings > Cookies > Block third-party cookies (set the slider on/off as desired). Alternatively, extension-based cookie managers (eg: Click&Clean) can also provide an easy interface for doing this. I choose to block all 3rd-party cookies in Vivaldi's regular settings panel and then make site-by-site allowance exceptions for log-ins as needed.

@blackbird
Thanks for a thorough explanation on coockies. Now I see the point.Just one thing: I tried the recipe > Site Settings > Cookies > Block third-party cookies but that changed the global setting for me. Same thing as adjusting settings in Alt+P. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

... Just one thing: I tried the recipe > Site Settings > Cookies > Block third-party cookies but that changed the global setting for me. Same thing as adjusting settings in Alt+P. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.Apparently, there are some current problems and gaps with Vivaldi's site-preference settings. I set my cookie preferences for my log-in sites some time ago, and most likely either used a cookie manager extension to do it or possibly the method noted below. I simply (and apparently erroneously) assumed that the setting now available in Site Preferences works correctly in the more recent versions since it's appeared, but apparently it doesn't - even on my system. The cookie exceptions I've made in the past have passed on to updated versions via the user profile files, and so I've not had to repeat the cookie exceptions as the older versions get updated.
There's a couple-of-week-old thread that suggests a known way to do this currently, though it certainly is somewhat more techno in nature than a simple site-preference setting: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/21084/exceptions-for-third-party-cookies
My apologies for my earlier misleading you about the site-preferences.

Ok, now I finally got it:
I get thrown out of my login on www.finn.no when blocking third party cookies.
So I added the exception [.]finn.no - that did'nt do it, the problem persisted. That did CONFUSE me.
Then I looked up which cookies was blocked on that domain, and added them to the exceptions, one by one. When the fifth one was added it worked (!). So now I new I was doing something right...
I then reversed the process to see if all the exceptions was necessary, and it turned out to be [.]schibsted.no that caused me problems.
Not that intuitive huh? Next time I won't dive in to the technicalities, it's too time consuming...But thanks alot for all your help anyways!

I have the same issue here at the Vivaldi.net site.
Logging to Community, OK it's all fine, but when I go to Forum I am told I am not logged in (see image). Very frustrating.
Also I cannot edit cookies I want to save or reject. I can only delete current current cookies, no other options and cannot get to the page mentioned earlier (chrome://settings/content/...), does not exist in this latest snapshot.
(I save session cookies only and third party are blocked.)
I really do not want an extension to manage this.!Vivaldi 1.13.971.8 (Official Build) (64-bit)

actually
chrome://settings/content/
works in 1.13.917.8
You just have to allow[*.]vivaldi.com
and[*.]vivaldi.net
as exceptions -

chrome://settings/content/
No go... Only offers option to edit search engines.

These differences in Vivaldi settings pages and urls are getting tiresome, let's hope they will take care of them sooner or later.
try only
chrome://settings
and not
vivaldi://settings
what do you see?
if you see the blue chromium settings page try
chrome://settings/?search=cookies -
