Netflix stopped working after upgrade to 1.11.917.39

In chrome works perfectly...

Hi, may a Windows only problem, it work for me with Agent Switcher on Linux.
You can try inbuild function with Developer Tools.
Open D. Tools (Crtl+Shift+i), click Network conditions > disable Select automaticaly > Select Chrome Windows or Edge Windows, for example.Cheers, mib
EDIT: Oooops, Netflix work also native on Linux, no Agent switching needed. -
I am really torn on what to do here we cant very well wait for another full version for a fix to atlest the Netflix issue? as of now all 3 of my services dont work
-
@asianmusicguy, Hi, are you reading how other user get Netflix to work?
We have to use workarounds until Vivaldi user base is big enough to kick big companies like Netflix to change there Browser detection.Cheers, mib
-
well yes but as i said we shouldn't have to but as i said in my request post Vivaldi team should implement a easy to use user agent switcher into Vivaldi as @rafiki show third party switchers can not be trusted i would however use a first party one in a heart beat please vote up my request https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/20037/feature-requests-for-1-12/105?page=6 if you agree even if you use Linux have some pity for us poor windows users
-
@mib2berlin "Oooops, Netflix work also native on Linux, no Agent switching needed" --> exactly!
-
@Steffie perhaps if you paid $26 for various services and could not watch a single one of them in your favorite browser you would feel differently your a Linux user great OS shaming and having a false sense of superiority is not helping anyone though i agree fighting to get Vivaldi recognized is a good fight i have spoken with every service i use about V and they simply do not care and most in a customer service brainwash way will sweetly tell you "go jump in a lake" and the user base will never be larger then mainstream
-
@asianmusicguy Netflix is broken on macOS as well. One bit of good news, Widevine now updated to 1.4.8.1000. However, I don't know if fixing Netflix is just a UA issue or something bigger. I'll complain to their tech support as well.
I'll also see if I can figure out what's going on with CraveTV... although I was trying to keep my system Flash-free.
-
@xyzzy thanks my friend please share what you find i want to help the community as much as anyone and also having your support on my native user agent switcher would go a long way thats my proposed solution attest until the team finds native work arounds

I hope you have caught your breath again now. There's some inaccuracies & clear misunderstandings contained in your riposte.
- I am a paid-up NF consumer too. Yes i would be also annoyed at not being able to watch it in V. A couple of years ago [or maybe a bit less, my memory's pretty dodgy with timelines] indeed i did have problems reliably watching NF in Linux V. If i were to search old posts, doubtless i made some in which i expressed frustration. However whinging alone is not productive, so i also took counter-measures, which those herein vociferously complaining could also do, until the problem is resolved.
- For instance, as others beside myself also have indicated, V in Linux is still ok with NF, so why not do the reverse of my workaround earlier [which was to use my Win10 VM's V for NF, til Linux V's NF was good]... ie, create a VM on your pc in your current Host OS, install a Linux distro in that VM, install V in that VM, & happily watch your NF til your OS/NF/V are all good again. Yes yes yes, i get it, you should not "need" to do it... but at least you still get to watch NF in V.
- "OS shaming and having a false sense of superiority is not helping anyone" ... it might be better to deal with my actual words rather than your re-imaginings of my words. Setting aside the obviously demonstrable fact of Windows' crappiness [there, happy? i deliberately threw in some red meat for you], you really should try to be less defensive about other people simply pointing out that some platforms are still doing ok re V & NF... ie, when you know such info, it then ipso facto opens up potential opportunities for anyone sufficiently motivated to broaden their horizons.
There's nothing arrogant about this, indeed quite the opposite. Several years ago [long before V publicly emerged], when O12 had begun really struggling to handle more & more websites, i was slow to learn that O15 had appeared. Once i did come to know of it, like many O12 users i began using O15, 16, 17... with progressively increased levels of disappointment & frustration at it. However, out of that period came two significant learnings for me; [a] for the first time, i heard of "Linux", from many many O15+ Forum users constantly haranguing the Devs "when are we gonna get a Linux version?", then much later again [b] one O15+ Forum poster posted [amongst the growing chorus of old O12 users expressing their unhappiness with O15+] of this new browser worth checking out... Vivaldi. At that point i'd never heard of V, checked it out, & was so delighted that i changed to it almost immediately [late Jan/early Feb 2015].
So my point is, i learned massively valuable things from reading others' posts... i learned of the existence of a whole other OS with which a few years later i fell in love, & i learned of V. All i'm doing here now, is not snootily OS-shaming anyone [though provoking Windows users genuinely is mischievous fun, especially as a Windows user since 1990 myself]. I'm paying forward the kind of info-sharing from which i substantially benefited, many years ago now, which lead to my own growth & improvement. If others outside the bubble never speak up, those inside the bubble have fewer opportunities to ever know that there is vibrancy & capability beyond.
In my case, it ultimately lead to abandoning Windows for Linux with its myriad benefits, but in your/others' case/s you do not necessarily have to actually leave Windows, you could simply [as already explained] provide yourselves with flexibility options for those sad times that Win/V/NF disappoint you... simply fire up your Linux VM, launch its V, & keep enjoying NF.
FYI.

@Steffie Practically speaking though, it would be easier for @asianmusicguy to just watch those services with Opera, Chrome or Firefox. If he wants to stick with Windows, that's his choice... and it's not unreasonable to want Vivaldi to work with the services that he has subscribed to, and on the platform of his choosing. He's also fighting to get Vivaldi on equal footing with other browsers and we should be supportive of that effort.
-
@xyzzy thank you for understanding me your right it would be easier not to fight and just go back to a mainstream browser that very much defeats the purpose of even seeking out browser alternatives it's a eel like a elderly person but instead of Pi!ls I have multiple browsers I must use ilol so that's why I believe the native user agent switch would be not only good temporary fix but also being in bult it can be fully trusted unlike third party extensions
@Steffie thanks for clarifying I apologize for taking that the wrong way but I hope we can somewhat see each other's view now -
@xyzzy Yes to everything you said. That's not at odds though with what i said. You know the deal of course... walk & chew gum. They can whinge moan & hold their breath til blue about occasional failings of Win/V/NF, AND also still watch NF in V [in Linux, til the bug is fixed], or as you said [which i would have said too, before, except i felt it an exercise in the bleedin' obvious] that they can alternate still in Win with another browser [temporarily]. I'm simply all about options & proactivity, that's all. Whinging is lots of fun & highly comforting, but by itself can be also an exercise in hair-shirt-wearing [unless the protagonists fix the bugs the moment the users complain... but meanwhile, back in the real world...].

Same here, since latest upgrade, Netflix suddenly stopped working with Vivaldi. I get the same error message:
Error Code: M7121-1331-P7
But Opera works fine, regular, beta, (but not developer, for some reason!)
Netflix is working fine in Chrome Beta and Canary, and of course, Safari.
Hope this gets fixed soon.

I retested using the user agent switcher. It still doesn't do any good. I verified using http://browserspy.dk/useragent.php and http://browserspy.dk/capabilities.php that it returns the same user agent string and list of capabilities as my installation of Chrome. Vivaldi and Chrome both get a score of 515 (out of 555 possible points) from the HTML5 test at http://html5test.com. Firefox gets 446, Edge 468.
Does anybody actually know how Netflix determines whether a browser meets their requirements?
-
I suspect they heard there were media playback problems in Vivaldi 1.10 (esp. Windows7) and decided to blacklist Vivaldi to not have the trouble of paid customers complaining about it and not being warned, and of course nobody there cared to test if it actually worked or not.

Looks like the latest version of Widevine fails, updating from version 970 to the new 1000 breaks Netflix. Browser sniffing does not seem to help, we are investigating, thanks for all the reports.
-
thanks for the update
-
@Aronand so basically Widevine is broken? any possible ETA on a work around as yet? thank you so much for addressing this also for other sites please do consider my request for a built in user agent switcher it truly is needed for a number of sites even though Widevine appears to be the current cause of most issue right now a Vivaldi coded built in user agent spoofer would allow users a trust worthy way of using sites that do not work where Widevine is not a issue allowing the media fix developer to take her time and fix things to work while not taking away from user enjoyment plus opera classic had one

@asianmusicguy As for the user agent issue, we are very aware, and have a fix in mind that we will be working on forward, hopefully that will resolve most of the issues there. As for the widevine issue, no way to give any eta at this moment.
