Netflix stopped working after upgrade to 1.11.917.39

I installed the user agent switcher add-on, updated the google chrome for windows settings to use the user agent from my installed copy of Chrome, and selected those settings. Same problem. I also closed and re-opened the web site in case it was using a cached version of the user agent string.
I used Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.90 Safari/537.36 as the user agent string which I obtained from http://browserspy.dk/useragent.php

I filed a bug report. I included my email address in case they needed to contact me. They didn't provide a bug report number or a link to the bug report afterwards.

Hello I have the same problem, same error. It happened as soon as I updated my copy of Vivaldi to 1.11.917.39. I chatted with a Netflix customer support representative. She told me they don't consider Vivaldi a supported browser and to switch to Chrome. I asked to have Vivaldi whitelisted by the people in charge, but she seemed to be following a script and kept repeating the same line about switching to a supported browser. It's like I gave her the excuse she needed. Also the agent spoofing workaround didn't work for me, but before the update Netflix was working fine. I don't like having to switch browsers for this one app but I am stuck.

I suppose then any suggestion of a platform switch would be also unappealing to you? NF continues to be fine in Linux.

Nah I find it silly to poke fun at other people's computer related choices. I am sure it will get fixed, just a shame Netflix doesn't think much of Vivaldi.

As it was apparently unclear to you, i was not poking fun, i was sincere. Migration is possible, if one has a mind to try it. I know; prior to my late-2013 "discovery" of Linux, & 6 months of careful learning & testing in 2014 H1, i realised that my 20+ years of MSWin usage had no further justification, so i migrated in 2014 H2. That's all boringly irrelevant to you, other than the fact that i'm illustrating to you that leopards actually can change their spots after all.

I got the same initially but challenged it - I told them that it was working fine until now, that there's no technical reason for it to not work, and that any compatibility issues should be my own responsibility to look out for and not theirs. She went away for a bit and came back a lot more responsive... almost as if they put someone else on who knew what they were talking about (of course I don't know this)! She even offered to go through some troubleshooting steps that might fix things in my Vivaldi installation, with no guarantees - I was very time-constrained by that point so I'm afraid I had to decline, I have no idea what they were planning to do and have doubts that it would have helped but I was quite surprised (it would have been interesting).
So yeah, be polite but don't take no for an answer, that would be my suggestion.

I don't recommend users install user agent switcher. The plugin was bought out recently and now poses a huge security risk as it sends browsing data and activity to a website and includes malware. More info here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14889619

every patch the same shit ... fixed bugs are back ....
as a workaround until they fix it use: IETab works fine with netflix in the actual snapshot.

thats why im fighting for my native switcher idea i was one of the first to whine about media sites not working and first i got the old stop using the service in protest make them accept Vivaldi that is clearly never happening the only way it would is if Vivaldi CEO personally reached out to at the very least the key streaming services and reach a joint agreement or solution
we have one developer working on work around for over 100+ media related issues
i say give into the beast reach agreements pay the fees needed hell some users would donate to the cause I love Vivaldi it is the best of any alternative browser on the market its beautiful design and ground breaking features are useless if we can not enjoy the modern web dont say use another browser either because i would not be here if i did not believe in Vivaldi -

Hi, may a Windows only problem, it work for me with Agent Switcher on Linux.
You can try inbuild function with Developer Tools.
Open D. Tools (Crtl+Shift+i), click Network conditions > disable Select automaticaly > Select Chrome Windows or Edge Windows, for example.Cheers, mib

I am really torn on what to do here we cant very well wait for another full version for a fix to atlest the Netflix issue? as of now all 3 of my services dont work

We have to use workarounds until Vivaldi user base is big enough to kick big companies like Netflix to change there Browser detection.Cheers, mib

well yes but as i said we shouldn't have to but as i said in my request post Vivaldi team should implement a easy to use user agent switcher into Vivaldi as @rafiki show third party switchers can not be trusted i would however use a first party one in a heart beat please vote up my request https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/20037/feature-requests-for-1-12/105?page=6 if you agree even if you use Linux have some pity for us poor windows users
