Still no video on certain sites

I still (after some months) don't know where to look. So it is a little frustrating. Something like Silver(Moon)light in the past, also a drag.
I only can see Firefox and Chromium doing fine on a thing like nos.nl
Vivaldi did everything fine until version 1.5. -
@rijnsma I understand your frustrating:(
Did you tried @ruario script?
We have a long thread about Video problem:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/12973/video-playback-problems-troubleshooting-and-solutions-on-linux -
@lamarca Yikes! Just loading https://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html will trigger a crash on Mac's with a blacklisted GPU! (Apparently a fix for this is in the works...)
-
@xyzzy It sounds good:)

Hey guys, I try that link to test video and the first one doesn't work for me, but... if i click over the video and i open video in a new tab it works. Last Vivaldi and tested on Windows 7 (I know this thread is for Linux and I will update this post soon. Just give me time to switch and test the same thing it on Linux Mint 18.1...).
Hope can help
Edit:
Test right now with Mint 18.1 and the first video works fine (no need to open in a new tab) -

https://gist.github.com/ruario/bec42d156d30affef655I see in the terminal:
Reading state information... Done
Package oxideqt-codecs-extra is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another sourceE: Package 'oxideqt-codecs-extra' has no installation candidate

Package oxideqt-codecs-extra is not available .....Your distro does not provide that package (it's ubuntu thing). I use the archlinux herecura repo:
If you are using x86_64, download the package below:https://repo.herecura.eu/herecura/x86_64/vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs-59.0.3071.104-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
- extract the package
- install the libffmpeg.so issuing the following command:
sudo install libffmpeg.so /opt/vivaldi
or /opt/vivaldi-snapshot

Yes.
Where do I put 'opt' ? I now have it in Downloads.I wrote the command syntax above. Here we go again
open the terminal and issue the following command:sudo install libffmpeg.so /opt/vivaldi
in case you are running vivaldi-snapshot:
sudo install libffmpeg.so /opt/vivaldi-snapshot
-
Result: install: cannot stat ‘libffmpeg.so’: No such file or directory
I can't make anyting else of it. Sorry.
-
@rijnsma Where is libffmpeg.so located?
-
linffmpeg.so is located in homedir/Downloads/opt/vivaldi/

Are you executing the command where the lib is located?

Yes.
I have done everything again and believe it or not: it works.
I still don't know what went wrong and this was not 'simple'. :lol:
Thanks a lot. -

bash: install:: command not foundLast attempt:
The error message "bash: install :command not found" you mentioned.
Perhaps your sistem requires the absolute path of the program.- open the terminal and type: "which install" - it will show the command executable path. mine is at "/usr/bin/install"
Try it: "sudo /usr/bin/install libffmpeg.so /opt/vivaldi
- open the terminal and type: "which install" - it will show the command executable path. mine is at "/usr/bin/install"

@lamarca
No, see my last post before yours, Lamarca.
I got it working, don't know why there were problems.
Maybe I did something wrong?Thanks again and for all for your patience
-
@rijnsma I misread your reply. Glad you got it working.
Cheers

Still works perfect. Thanks again. Put it into the browser or is that difficult?
It could be a stumblingblock for (new) users, I think.
