Transparent Speed Dial Thumbnails
-
- I saved a few custom Speed Dial thumbnails as 32-bit PNG images with a yellow background
- When I edited them to set the background to transparent they turn green, and are not fully transparent.
What's up?
This is how they should look
That is fully transparent, with the background showing through: which is white on this page.
-
@Gwen-Dragon That seems wrong to me. The Speed Dial has to have background picture, so that should be fully visible under transparent thumbnails. If I want to have a translucent background colour to the thumbnails, and will use one.

@Gwen-Dragon Thanks. That was relatively painless, and looks a bit better. Speed Dial is still obviously work in progress, but it is improving. Next, we need an option to remove all of the superfluous buttons (right-click is fine for occasional use). Once the Speed Dial has been set up, I won't need to change it very often.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Thanks.
I had to patch it again after the update, though not in the same line. I also made a blank thumbnail for those who want to have some gaps in their speed dial grid. The dropshadow outline can, no doubt, be removed by editing common.css too if they wish.
-
It would be nice to get rid of the drop shadow outlines to give an even cleaner appearance, now that we can remove the icons.
-
I'm running them semi-transparent, but it's a matter of taste.
.thumbnail-image {box-shadow: none !important;}
is what you are looking for. -
@luetage Thanks; that works. Here's hoping that we will get some of these options in settings without customising common.css.
-
@Pesala You really shouldn't be customising
common.css
. Make acustom.css
file instead and put it in the style folder alongsidecommon.css
. Then all you need is a line inbrowser.html
which links to this file. It's a matter of 2 minutes to set this up after each update, and you can modify all you care for. But hopefully they get around introducing a way to make mods stick after updates. -
@luetage I was aware of this, but not too bothered as this is all experimental stuff. I have modified browser.html now, and added a few lines to custom.css. I have backed up browser.html and custom. css
-
Be careful, they slightly change browser.html from time to time. It doesn't happen that often, but I would always edit the existing file instead of copying the old one in, just to make sure.
