It's "almost there" with the deletion of old dir, 1.10.867.32 was still there finished the update with full installer. Closed again Vivaldi and restarted, the directory got emptied, but still 1.10.867.32 was there.
vivaldi_installer.log:

Sync function coming in this year?
-
@gwen-dragon: What would you say your personal estimate is for sync? Q4 2017?
-
@marcospreviato I would certainly hope so. I have access to a preliminary version of it due to being an internal tester, and this week I set up a new tower 600 miles from my normal base of operations, turned on sync and had all of my bookmarks, passwords and notes (only a FEW of the items that are planned for sync) at the drop of a hat. Bam. At the current state of development, even with several types of sync data unfinished, it's hard for me to imagine it taking the rest of the year for this to be ready for at least public testing of the initial version.
-
@Ayespy That's good news! Then we can at least try out the first version of sync this year in the snapshots. Bookmarks, passwords, and notes covers most of the data we need. Right now, does the internal testing version also experiment with settings/themes/SD thumbs, extensions, history, sessions, CSS, etc.?
-
@D0J0P Lol, he just said soon. Don't expect it to come this year, it's just like with mail -- it's an indication that progress has been made, but he has no idea when it will come out.

That's saying he doesn't think it'll take the rest of the year for the first testing version of sync to come, meaning he thinks it'll come out before the year is over. But I take that as just his guess, not a confirmed ETA. I just hope it does come out this year, even if the first version can only sync basic stuff like bookmarks, notes, and passwords.

@luetage: The answer is always WIR, but at least we are using both sync and mail internally. That means it is closer. I would say sync is closer than mail, but both are seeing some serious progress as is quite visible to those of us using it.
