Feature requests - the tab scrolling issue again
-
I have lots of tabs open. I used the tab scrolling feature in FF, so it's going to be hard to convince me that it didn't work, or that I didn't like it, or that lots of people don't want it, or that they're wrong for wanting it. No argument "imagine this" can contradict the experience of it working well. You remember where the tabs were, you can get to them, you can click on them, etc., etc. It works. It works well. I have the ram to handle it. You don't have to use it, but clearly a number of people would like to. Why you'd want to tell me how much screen space I should be happy to lose or how much I should love your set-up I can't imagine. I would like to request the option to have the tabs scroll. It's the only feature I really miss from another browser.

@WombatPete I don't understand most of your post. I'm not a recent FF user, so i don't know about its current tab-scrolling capability, other than in older versions it had none, unless i installed a specific add-on for that. Wrt V though, it has, & has had for yonks, tab-scrolling. Could you pls explain what it is that you mean? Apparently t-s to me must mean something quite different to you, so i'm curious.

@Steffie, I mean as in FF. Tabs shrink to fit only up to a point (after which they'd be too small to use effectively), after which they go beyond the visible screen and you can scroll the tab bar right and left to access the full set of open tabs. Does that make sense to you?

@WombatPete You already requested this in the right place. It has only 5 upvotes, so I guess it's not hugely popular. That does not mean it won't be added, but I suggest that you try some of the options offered by luetage while you're waiting.

What I'd love is the option to set a minimum tab size - and if there are too many to fit on the screen at that size, they'd scroll, a la Firefox.
If you had searched before posting your feature request, you would have found this post with 11 upvotes already.

Firefox-like tab scrolling when there are many tabs opened
Personally, I don't like to open lots of tabs. I very rarely open enough to fill the tab bar. However, I suggested this as a way to handle lots of tabs.

@WombatPete Aha, yes, now i know exactly what you mean... i do now remember that FF tab behaviour. The funny thing is that one of the things i most disliked about FF [there were many] was exactly that behaviour. I loathe it, as i do not want any of my tabs to disappear off-screen [i have a goldfish memory, so once said tabs were out of sight, i'd likely forget them]. In the V fora over the past couple of years debate has waxed & waned about this... many people also like V's way [as i do], but certainly there were multiple people who like it your/FF way.
Thanks for explaining it. Btw, do you just generally enjoy Phylum Chordata, Class Mammalia, Infraclass Marsupialia, Order Diprotodontia, Suborder Vombatiformes, Family Vombatidae, or is this instead your subtle way of denoting your fellow downunderness?

@Steffie, I'd have thought you'd need to know whether I mean the rarer northern hairy-nosed variety or...
...and I have zero problem with people preferring other methods, but fighting to make sure that I don't have the option I just can't understand. I tend to remember exactly where the off-screen tabs are (in other words, I forget OTHER things). In fact, if there's one thing NOT to include, it would be shrinking tabs to the point where you couldn't possibly use them, I'd think. -

but fighting to make sure that I don't have the option
but, but, but... that's not what i'm doing.

@Steffie, I didn't mean you! Of course you're not. In the debates I've seen there seems to be a lot of that, that's all I meant.
