Corrupt Notes File
-
Ever since the last snapshot, 1.10.856.16, Vivaldi wouldn't open unless I refreshed my profile. Now in 1.10.862.6, the problem is still there, but I've isolated it by removing each folders until removing my notes and notes.bak folders made Vivaldi open consistently again all the time. I think my notes files are corrupted.
I'm a little heartbroken about it as I've collected hundreds of notes over the last almost 2 years of using Vivaldi, and I like to keep them handy just in case. I still have my notes files, just not in my Default folder anymore.
I've even tried opening them up in Wordpad, but it's not formatted at all in Wordpad, so it's not easily legible.
Is there any way I can fix my notes files, and restore them to a good condition again?

@Gwen-Dragon Instead of just moving the Notes file like I did before, I decided to copy and then paste it into my Default folder, and it worked. But then I decided to close Vivaldi again and then open it, and it didn't open again.
So I'm gonna have to use a text editor now. I'll try that, but thanks for the help!

@Gwen-Dragon Sorry, edited my message. It worked once, but then I closed and reopened Vivaldi, and it didn't work, so I'll probably have to use a text editor, and just copy and paste the notes as new notes in a new notes file or something.

@Gwen-Dragon Okay! Just finished copying and pasting all my notes to Wordpad, refreshing my profile and deleting the notes files, and then copying and pasting those notes in WordPad into new notes. That took a while, but it's finally done.
I closed Vivaldi, and then reopened it and my notes were all there, intact. It looks like everything is all fine for now. Thanks for your help!

@D0J0P Ah, it's too late now, but i'll still post this in case there's a "next time".
You posted this in the All Platforms section, not the Windows section, so initially i assumed that your Notes file was corrupted in both your Win AND your Mint Cinnamon V's. However, everything you subsequently wrote seemed to imply that you were in fact only talking about your Win V.
Sooooooooo, if there's a "next time" [hope not], it might be interesting to copy your Win notes file to your Cinnamon Default, & see if V-SS under Linux handles it any better.

@Steffie Too late now, but yes, it was on W10.
I have a little suspicion though that it would have probably been a problem mostly on the W10 side, because the last snapshot before this one had a problem with the Windows registry, and what if that had anything to do with corrupting my notes file? But I don't know enough if the two are related.

@D0J0P said in Corrupt Notes File:
problem with the Windows registry
I have been reading all the posts on that, & combined with the odd instances of Win users having other update problems too, i just thank my lucky stars that i left Win [Lose?] a few years back. In Linux [mine at least], all the V updates just... work.
