Comparing video playback on old and new mac
-
I have since I started using Vivaldi had huge problems with videoplayback on my Imac, late 2009. It has a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB and 16 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 ram installed
Today I bought a MacBook Air, cloned the Vivaldi set up onto it, latest snapshot 1.10.838.7 (Official Build) (64-bit).
Everything works flawlessly. No problem with videoplayback at all.I guess the that this is some hardware related and I am curious about what is done to solve this issue. I see there are several threads about this in this forum.
Worth mentioning, Videoplayback works fine in Chrome latest on my Imac but it should really not be necessary ti switch browsers for watching video.
If anyone could point me in the right direction here I would appreciated it a lot.

@cybercon67 If you go to vivaldi://gpu you'll probably see that the NVIDIA driver on your iMac has been blacklisted and video hardware acceleration has been disabled. (This was done by the Chromium developers, not Vivaldi.)
Others have also reported issues with video playback when Vivaldi uses software-based rendering... although Chrome seems to work fine. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
