No doubt Vivaldi will continue to grow for a long time.
-
@pesala: Ha, nice pun, but yes indeed true.
-
Congratulations on the new release... Vivaldi is becoming really fun to use...
-
NOW PLEASE M3 Email Client! in the next beta!
-
Thanks for the new version that makes this browser more and more complete.
-
@kamarade: thanks for adding it manually, the restore tip didn't work for you?
"If you are updating Vivaldi and have previously selected a different default search engine, you will need to restore the search defaults in the settings prior to Ecosia becoming available. (see screenshot above)" -
@pesala: Yes, let's hope they never leave...
-
@saudiqbal: Ruario said that M3 will not be in the next beta.
-
@jonmc Hopefully they will branch out to other devices, but won't forget their roots in Opera.
-
@Pesala Ha, nice + droll.

I wonder why Vivaldi is introducing this. Ecosia is a for-profit organisation, and it seems they give the bigger share of the generated ad money to the WWF. It's not immediately clear what the WWF does with it though.
I'm not saying the search engine is a scam, but I think the claims of saving the forests of the world are exaggerated, and can't be accounted for easily.
Did Ecosia contact you? What are you getting out of the deal Vivaldi, other than the warm feeling that you are part of the solution now
ok, rant over lol

What about VB-27865?
-
I am sure that Vivaldi gets paid each time the search engine is used, even though it may be a tiny amount, it adds up. Users can choose which organisation to support: Google or Ecosia.

@bycrash: Hi, sadly none of our testers were able to reproduce the issue you were having, I would recommend turning off all extensions, seeing if that fixes the issue, if it does, turn each extension on, one at at time, until it no longer works. Thanks!

To me it's easily reproducibile, ctrl-t for a new tab, copy paste this url
http://vivaldi.com/?p=< (note: ends with p=%3C)
and works, you can still edit the address bar
now change the %3c in for example %fc or any other hex value > %7f
http://vivaldi.com/?p=
after pressing enter the address bar gets unresponsive to any key press, it always display last url before editing (in this case http://vivaldi.com/?p=<) but can't be changed back, delete or backspace can't edit the url anymore. You have to close the tab.
Same goes for the url @bycrash reported in his thread,
http://pogoda.by/315/arch_gid.php?punkt=
(note: ends with punkt=%C3%EE%EC%E5%EB%FC)additionally, I hover on these faulty links and they don't appear even in the status bar, while http://vivaldi.com/?p=< appears
Win7 32bit, all extensions and Vivaldihooks disabled, just to be sure there were no extra stuff causing conflicts.

I've been waiting for the fix of the address auto-complete feature and it's here now!
I hope we can have popups soon, that's the only regret I have left since those are a necessity in my line of work. Thanks for the update and keep up the great work!

@aronand: Clean standalone install both version x32 and x64. Two different machines with win 10 1703 and 1607. In all cases page is not loading and strange behaviour...

You can also buy chocolate to plant trees

@ian-coog: Thanks for the additional insight, while I can confirm there is some weird behaviour here when going back (although not easily reproducable for me), as well as the hovering not working, this all seems to have been fixed internally on a seperate bug. I will investigate this whole thing further, and see what could cause this. I recall another bug mentioning "" so there is likely someone investigating that already. Thank you both for your time, and hopefully we can have a fix out for you soon. Happy browsing
