Dead Bird on Page - only in Vivaldi (1.9 Snapshot)
-
Greeting all
https://www.co-operativebank.co.nz
Vivaldi crashes to a dead bird for me on the above page, it was working fine a week or two ago.
I am currently using Vivaldi
1.9.811.13 (Official Build) (32-bit) on Windows 10
actually it has just told me theres an update for Vivaldi
So we are now using
1.9.818.3 (Official Build) (32-bit) on Windows 10Anyhelp would be appreciated,
also I seem to be using the 32but vivaldi it was the only version available back in feb 2015ish?, when I tried to install the 64bit a couple of days ago it told me I already had a later version installed, apart from the 32bit thats not true.
So can I not have a 32 and 64 bit on the same machine?, or will I have to uninstall the 32bit to install the 64 bitCheers

Whoops and yes I have disabled all add-ons, cleared cache, rebooted etc.

Bah Humbug, I was hoping it wasn't just me.
Just installed Vivaldi on an old computer and it accesses the page fine,
any ideas what I should be looking for in my setting, can' think of anything I have changed but who knows?

@nigelt74 @Steffie
This one is a bit strange at first I got the deadbird too after a reload I could see the real site for like a second than --> deadbird.
So I tried a user agent switcher (you can get one here in the chrome store to try for yourself)
which only seems to work when I mask vivaldi as firefox or a chrome android version. So the question is what is the difference (besides that Steffie is using Linux?)
Tested on 1.9.818.3 32bit || win 7 64 bit
Regarding your second question yes you can run as much vivaldi versions as you like at once. When the installation window is open click on advanced, there should be a dropdown where something like "install for all users" is listed that's the one where you need to select "Standalone" next select an installation folder.
Reasons why you get the "you already use a new installation" popup.
There are two streams of vivaldi- the stable one which you can get at https://vivaldi.com/
- the snapshot stream which you can get on the blog https://vivaldi.com/blog/snapshots/
Point is (whit one exception) the stable is ahead of the stable - it is kind of a beta version. Your 1.9.818.3 is a snapshot release so when you go to vivaldi.com you only get the stable release which is at the moment at 1.8 so it won't install this way regardless of 32bit or 64bit.

@zaibon & @nigelt74 -- I have now launched my Win10 x64 VM [still inside my Linux Host, of course]. Tested the website in V-SS 1.9.811.13 [normal window with my usual myriad extensions, then in new Private Window], & thereafter once updated, in 1.9.818.3 [both window types again]. My Win V-SS is 64 bit not 32 bit. In each of these test scenarios, my experience with that site was the same as you've reported -- a flash of the real site, then the ex-parrot [don't worry; Monty Python reference]. So, [she now exasperatingly & unhelpfully adds] this appears to be another instance demonstrating that Linux Rulz. More seriously though, sorry i cannot help more, but maybe somehow it's slightly reassuring to OP that you're not the only one. However, it so far seems to be limited to Windows versions only, albeit for both x86 & x64 flavours of V.

@Steffie Good to know and thanks for cross testing. Now we only need some of the mac folks to test to pin it down a bit further.
Btw that bird's not dead he's just resting on his back - this position is way healthier for his spine. ; ) -
@zaibon said in Dead Bird on Page - only in Vivaldi:
not dead he's just resting
In fact, he's not dead, gov, he's resting.
Resting?
Yeah, resting. He's shagged out after a long night's squawk.
Wot?
He's probably pining for the fjords.
Pining for the fjords, what kind of talk is that? Look why did it fall flat on its back the moment I got it home?
The Norwegian Blue prefers kipping on its back, it's a beautiful bird, lovely plumage.etc.

Site doesn't work on latest osx snapshot. I started it up on Opera stable and it works (chromium 57).
Normally I change user agents in dev-tools, but the site just disconnects from dev-tools upon loading and Vivaldi crashes. I installed an user-agent switcher extension but Vivaldi keeps crashing, no matter what agent I use. FF and Android don't work either.
I'd say the site has serious issues. Dead birds are a bad omen : D

Also confirmed ("resting" bird) here on latest snapshot (1.9.818.3 x64) on Windows x64 : site displays loading screen, then flashes briefly then the bird goes to sleep.
In Chrome 57.0.2987.133 (x64) it works. Maybe a Chromium 58 bug ? Chrome Canary (60.0.3074.0 (x64)) works too.

The page crashes here too. I submitted a bug report.
(VB-27634) Dead Bird icon on Bank Site
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit β’ Snapshot 1.9.818.3

FYI Chrome updated to 58.0.3029.81 today on my PC, and the site does work, so it's either not Chromium's fault or fixed in Chrome but not Chromium.

Hi, short update to this topic, the bug has been confirmed and duplicated to another bug, as they both have the same underlying issue. We are investigating the issue, and work to hinder it from crashing, and solving the underlying issue Thanks for all the input. The new bug number (previously VB-27634) is VB-27599, so keep an eye out for that number in future changelogs

Cheers Guys, good to know its not just me.

Just an update: the site is now working fine
